Q) What should be understood by the statement, “The scepter has not departed from Israel?” [262-27, Par. 3-A]

(A) Israel is the chosen of the Lord, and that His promise, His care, His love, has not departed from those that seek to know His way, that seek to see His face, that would draw nigh unto Him. THIS is the meaning, this should be the understanding to all. Those that seek are Israel. Those that seek not, have ye not heard, “Think not to call thyselves the promise in Abraham. Know ye not that the Lord is able to raise up children of Abraham from the very stones?” So Abraham means call; so Israel means those who seek. How obtained the supplanter the name Israel? For he wrestled with the angel, and he was face to face with the seeking to know His way. So it is with us that are called and seek His face; we are the Israel. Know, then, the scepter, the promise, the love, the glory of the Lord has not departed from them that seek His face!

We find, then, the entity was of the household of those that had been a portion of the lineage where there had been set aside the men of the household for a definite service in the activities of the peoples of the day. Not merely in the thought of that termed in the present as the people of Israel, but rather that as understood by those peoples of the day - the greater meaning of the word Israel - those called of God for a service before the fellow man.

Thus let there be the study, the closer study of the promises which are made in the Book, yes, the history of the Jews; yet these having failed, who is Israel? Not the Jew, but Israel is the seeker after truth. Who may this be? Those who put and hold trust in the fact that they, as individuals, are children of the universal consciousness of God!

REPORTS OF READING 3976-26

R1. 9/14/69 Letter to HLC [In re 3976-26, Par. 12]: “I wrote to you several months ago about the importance of the Davis Straits, which was one of your father’s predictions: “Strifes will arise throughout the period. Watch for them near the Davis Straits, where there will be attempts to keep open a life line to a land.”

Enclosed is an article from the N.Y. Times which shows that already there is trouble over the N.W. Passage, a route which includes the Davis Straits. Although the Straits will become a life line for America, especially to bring oil from Alaska to the U.S., it seems that the Canadians are going to cause problems for us.

Another prophecy which has just come true concerns the new revolutionary government in Libya: “Strifes will arise throughout the period. Watch for them in Libya and in Egypt, and in Syria...” (3976-26; April 28, 1941) “In the near future, Libya will probably join the other Arab countries in the war with Israel.”

Your father’s predictions are coming true very quickly at the present time.

Very truly yours, [...]
