Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. to Break Ground on New Education Center

Virginia Beach, Va. — Edgar Cayce's Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) will break ground on the new de Laski Family Foundation Education Center at its 67th Street site on Thursday, October 6, at 4:00 pm. The groundbreaking coincides with the organization's 80th anniversary and will be attended by Virginia Beach mayor, William D. Sessoms, Jr., A.R.E. Executive Director and CEO Kevin J. Todeschi, and members of the Cayce family. The new facility will house expanded classroom space for the Cayce/Reilly School of Massotherapy, offices for Atlantic University, and the Edgar Cayce Foundation archives, which include the original 14,306 psychic readings given by Edgar Cayce over his lifetime.

The A.R.E. was founded in 1931 by twentieth century psychic and medical clairvoyant, Edgar Cayce, the most-documented psychic in history. The subject of over 100 books, Cayce is best known for his answers to questions while in an altered state. These "readings" covered not only health, but also information on more than 10,000 different topics, including prophecy, life after death, world affairs, and psychic and spiritual development. Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. is a popular conference, visitor, and tourist destination located at the North End of Virginia Beach. Pre-Ice Age Complex Found Off Bahamas Coast

Virginia Beach, Va. — Researchers for the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) have investigated an underwater site with what appears to be the remains of a collapsed multi-room building. Locals first found the structure and notified A.R.E. team members who made several expeditions to the location. The building foundation has manmade mitered limestone corners and other debris inside the outer walls. A sample of beach rock from a long, straight foundation wall was carbon dated to between 21,520 BCE and 20,610 BCE. These dates are astonishing, because prior to this discovery most researchers considered the oldest dates for humans in this area to be 1000 BCE.

A spokesman for the team said that their organization has been searching this region since the late 1960s and they have found many unusual underwater formations that appear to be manmade, but this is the first site to actually be carbon dated to a time long before the last Ice Age ended, indicating that a highly developed culture once lived off the coast of the Bahamas and operated throughout the region.

Virginia Beach, Va. – The Edgar Cayce Scholarship Program has awarded $1,500 each to two Virginia Beach high school students—Ragan Killen of Cox High School and Kierra Sewell of Bayside High School. Killen, who will attend James Madison University as a psychology/pre- med major, wrote her winning essay on "Holistic Health vs. Traditional Medicine" and Sewell, who will major in biology at either Virginia State University or Florida A&M, wrote her winning essay on "The Insightful Triune Integration." The awards will be presented at the June 2 staff meeting at Edgar Cayce's A.R.E. (215 67th St.), and the students will be featured in an upcoming issue of A.R.E.'s membership magazine Venture Inward.

One of the many ways A.R.E. reaches out to the local community, the goal of this annual scholarship program is to promote the education of students who are interested in or studying fields associated with holistic living. The scholarships are intended to give financial assistance to students who will be majoring in a course curriculum related to holistic health, philosophy, social work, personal spirituality, and/or quality of life through mind-body-spirit integration. Each applicant is evaluated on a variety of factors, including academic achievement (minimum 3.0 or appropriate equivalent), community service, and a 3,500- 4,000 word essay on one of the main topics of the Edgar Cayce material (holistic health, dreams, ancient mysteries, ecumenical spirituality/philosophy, and intuition). Candidates must be graduating seniors, attending any of Virginia Beach's public or private high schools, who have been accepted into a college undergraduate-level program. A.R.E. staff members, volunteers, and their family members, are not eligible for this scholarship.

The Edgar Cayce Scholarship Program, created in 2007, exists due to the generosity of long- time A.R.E. member, Nancy Clark and the George Clark Foundation. In 2010, the Edgar Cayce Scholarship Program split its $3,000 award equally between two students from Cox High School. A student from Tallwood High School was also given a $100 honorable mention award. Massage School Named Best of Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach, Va. – The Cayce/Reilly® School of Massotherapy has been named Best of Virginia Beach in the Virginian Pilot’s annual contest. The school took the silver award in the Best Technical Training School category. The School is now eligible for the second annual Best of the Best contest, which will determine an overall regional winner for each category. Voting begins May 8 on the Pilot’s Web site. “We are all very grateful for this recognition and proud to share the Cayce legacy of holistic health and therapeutic massage with our Hampton Roads community,” Education Services Manager Dawn Hogue said.

The awards, announced in the newspaper May 1, are voted on each year by residents of the Hampton Roads area. Winners are selected for each city in the area: Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Western Branch, Williamsburg, and surrounding areas.

With more than 20 years’ experience training massage therapists, the Cayce/Reilly School of Massotherapy is the only school that teaches the entire holistic wellness model found in the Edgar Cayce material. Classes for the 700-hour program, taken over just eight months, begin in January, April, and September of each year. Part-time and evening classes are also available, and continuing education courses are offered for therapists to maintain licenses and certifications. The school is approved for Veterans Administration benefits, and federal financial aid is available to those who qualify. A 1,000-hour diploma is also available, with additional coursework in complementary healing modalities.

The school’s mission is to offer a quality comprehensive education in both the art and science of massage therapy. Students experience scientific and technical instruction in combination with holism, healing, and the theory of integrating body, mind, and spirit for optimal health. Course work includes anatomy and physiology, advanced massage techniques, as well as developing an awareness of the body-mind-spirit connection in overall wellness. Business development and ethics are also an integral part of the curriculum. The knowledge gained from these courses along with hands-on training make for exceptionally well-trained and successful massage therapists. The diverse student body spans a wide range of ages, backgrounds, and educational experiences, and the more than 1,000 graduates include people from all over the United States, Canada, and many foreign countries.

The origin of the Cayce/Reilly School grew out of the A.R.E. Therapy Department (now the A.R.E. Health Center & Spa), founded in 1967 by A.R.E. Executive Director Hugh Lynn Cayce and Dr. Harold J. Reilly, a well-known physiotherapist. Dr. Reilly developed the Cayce/Reilly technique from a combination of his personal techniques and methods recommended in the Edgar Cayce material. In 1987, the school was officially recognized as a separate entity by the Virginia Board of Education and was named the Harold J. Reilly School of Massotherapy. In 1997, it was renamed the Cayce/Reilly School of Massotherapy to honor the contributions of both men. Edgar Cayce on Earth Changes

Virginia Beach, Va. – Since the devastating earthquake and tsunami that occurred on March 11, 2011, in Japan, Edgar Cayce’s Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) has been inundated with inquiries about what Cayce predicted for Japan and other “earth changes.”

It is important to put the “earth change” material into context. In terms of Cayce's earth change predictions, A.R.E.’s CEO Kevin J. Todeschi says, “Years ago, I was surprised when I eventually counted them for myself. Less than 20 of the readings even discuss physical earth changes. A few, given concerning the period 1932-1936, are especially fatalistic. Oftentimes, they are the very readings that have been quoted out of context or have proven to be inaccurate. There is one reading (out of 14,306) that mentions changes in Japan. Here is the quote:

“As to the changes physical again: The earth will be broken up in the western portion of America. The greater portion of Japan must go into the sea. The upper portion of Europe will be changed as in the twinkling of an eye …” Edgar Cayce reading 3976-15

Todeschi goes on to say, “Looking at this reading closely, two things became obvious. The reading actually begins with Edgar Cayce talking about events that can be anticipated for 1936. And later on in the reading someone asks the question, ‘What are the world changes to come this year physically?’ The reading was given in 1934.”

Rather than thinking that Edgar Cayce was predicting a future earthquake in Japan or that he was mistaken in that earth changes predicted for 1934-1936 did not occur, Todeschi suggests a third possibility: Edgar Cayce accurately predicted “earth changes” but they did not manifest as earthquakes.

Historically, 1936 marked the outbreak of civil war in Spain, Chiang Kai-shek's declaration of war on Japan, and Hitler's reoccupation of the Rhineland—events which laid the groundwork for World War II. Rather than earthquakes, the changes expressed themselves in the affairs of humankind through the outbreak of war. And “Europe was changed as in the twinkling of an eye,” and “[the empire of Japan] went into the sea.”

Given the current state of extreme weather patterns and upheavals in the world, many continue to wonder if these are some of the earth changes that Cayce once foresaw. Although there is controversy among Cayce experts as to the meaning of his “earth change” readings—whether they are literal or represent only the changes that occur within ourselves— Todeschi suggests that the changes we see in the world are the “birthing pains” of our ultimate destiny as a people on this planet—a birth that will eventually lead to oneness and global connectedness. That is our destiny as described in the Edgar Cayce material as Todeschi further states, “The geological condition of the planet makes some earth changes inevitable. In other words, there will continue to be earthquakes. But the purpose of the changes we are experiencing is not for the earth changes themselves, it is so that we will undergo personal transformation. Humanity today is in the midst of an unavoidable process. Our need to come together as one global community is greater than ever before. It is a necessary part of fulfilling our destinies as a human family; it is a necessary part of our heritage as spiritual beings manifesting in the earth.”
