Earth Changes: Did Edgar Cayce Predict the 2004 Tsunami?

This prediction came true the day after Christmas, December 26, 2004, when an undersea earthquake triggered a series of devastating tsunamis along the coasts of most landmasses bordering the Indian Ocean, killing nearly 230,000 people in fourteen countries, and inundating coastal communities with waves up to 100 feet (30 meters). It was one of the deadliest natural disasters in recorded history. The tragedy left millions without food, water, water, sanitation, and shelter. The hardest hit included Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand.

With a magnitude of between 9.1 and 9.3, it is one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded and had the longest duration of faulting ever observed, between 8.3 and 10 minutes. It caused the entire planet to vibrate and triggered other earthquakes as far away as Alaska. So powerful was this quake that it has been estimated that the earth is now spinning slightly faster and its axis have be tilted a bit!

Global satellite television and news agencies brought the images to everyone on the planet. It quickly became a global tragedy, and the worldwide community donated more than $7 billion in humanitarian aid.  

Several of Edgar Cayce’s prophecies suggest that some near term changes are going to be quite serious. In reading 3976-15, given January 19, 1934. “As to the changes physical again: The earth will be broken up in the western portion of America. The greater portion of Japan must go into the sea. The upper portion of Europe will be changed as in the twinkling of an eye. Land will appear off the east coast of America. There will be the upheavals in the Arctic and in the Antarctic that will make for the eruption of volcanoes in the Torrid areas [torrid is the region of earth between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn – which includes the area of the recent earthquake and tsunami], and there will be the shifting then of the poles [in 2003 scientists reported that a pole shift had begun] – so that where there has been those of a frigid or the semi-tropical will become the more tropical, and moss and fern will grow. And these will begin in those periods in ‘58 to ‘98, when these will be proclaimed as the periods when His light will be seen again in the clouds. As to times, as to seasons, as to places, ALONE is it given to those who have named the name – and who bear the mark of those of His calling and His election in their bodies. To them it shall be given.”

The map will help us to visually comprehend the Torrid Zone that Cayce has identified as the location for many of the prophesied earth changes. As you can see, the epicenter of the 2004 earthquake is in this zone. The dark areas of the map are the “wet” areas of the Torrid Zone, where tropical rains keep the climate humid. The areas that are not darkened are dry areas, even deserts. There are many fault lines in the Torrid Zone; and many of them are underwater.

However, the top four most-powerful earthquakes have all occurred outside of this zone, mostly in and near Alaska and Kamchatka, Russia, both lightly populated areas. Perhaps Cayce is directing us to the Torrid Zone because undersea earthquakes will cause tsunamis that ultimately create the greatest lost of life and destruction.

Cayce received this advice in a reading for himself concerning earth changes that he was seeing in his dreams, From it, we can all take to heart: “That the periods from the material angle as visioned are to come to pass matters not to the soul, but do thy duty today! Tomorrow will care for itself. These changes in the earth will come to pass, for the time and times and half times are at an end, and there begin those periods for the readjustments. For how hath He given? ‘The righteous shall inherit the earth.’ Hast thou, my brethren, a heritage in the earth?” (294-185)
