October Update
From the Desk of Kevin J. Todeschi

This is my update for October 2014 to A.R.E. members and friends who are interested in the new and exciting trends occurring within Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. and Atlantic University. A number of exciting things are happening this month! Please share the following with your friends:

Library Endowment Fund 10-2014
Donors Douglas and Darian Torrance, CEO Kevin Todeschi
and Library Manager, Laura Hoff

DOUGLAS AND DARIAN TORRANCE CREATE THE FIRST-EVER LIBRARY ENDOWMENT FUND
Longtime members, Doug and Darian Torrance of Columbus, Ohio, were moved by the letter they received from Charles Thomas Cayce to pledge $25,000 to establish the Douglas and Darian Torrance Library Endowment Fund - the first such endowment for the Library. Funds generated by the Torrance Endowment will augment the Library's program budget annually in perpetuity! “We are moved to support the A.R.E. Library since it has such a large influence and strong effect on all three major areas of the Edgar Cayce work: A.R.E., Atlantic University, and the Edgar Cayce Foundation,” Doug said at the Endowment Signing Ceremony in September. “We are grateful for all we have received from the Cayce material and want to give back to the future.” Thank you, Doug and Darian!

HUGH LYNN CAYCE ENDOWMENT CHALLENGE
New A.R.E. Trustee and longtime members Lou and Judi Henry have pledged $10,000 toward our Hugh Lynn Cayce Endowment Fund – supporting A.R.E.’s operations – as a Matching Gift Challenge. If you knew Hugh Lynn or just want to see him honored here in this permanent fashion for future generations, please consider joining Lou and Judi by contributing here (just fill in HLC Endowment under ‘other’): EdgaCayce.org/donate or contact Development Director Patrick Belisle: pat@edgarcayce.org. Thank you!

YOUR MONTHLY CREATE CAMPAIGN UPDATE
With just 16 months left in our $30 million CREATE Comprehensive Campaign (capital, endowment, and programs); we have reached the $25.5 million mark! With the Cayce Hospital renovations successfully completed and over $6 million raised already toward our $7.5 million capital project goal, we now turn our attention to building our endowment – currently $4million in investments and $1million in real estate. We need to raise an additional $2 million before the end of the Campaign next year (December 31, 2015). We still need endowment funds to be established (by you?) for our various programs like Prison Outreach, Prayer, Camp, and our schools (Atlantic University and Cayce/Reilly School of Massage) as well as the A.R.E. in general. You are still supporting our day-to-day program operations in wonderful ways. We have raised well over $18 million for these great programs already! Thank you.

CAYCE/REILLY® SCHOOL OF MASSAGE
We are very pleased that the Cayce/Reilly School of Massage welcomed 17 students for the Fall semester – AND we’ve already received a record number of inquiries for January 2015.

And thanks to A.R.E. Life Member Sheila Garrett of Virginia, it will now be much easier for retiring veterans to enter the field of Massage Therapy. Sheila has gifted A.R.E. with the creation of the George Williams Garrett Fund for Veteran Support, in memory of her husband, to honor his service to our country, and to support our veterans. The fund will facilitate enrollment for these returning service men and women, by getting word to them about the Cayce/Reilly School’s highly respected, COMTA accredited program, the GI bill availability for tuition, career opportunities, and job placement assistance upon graduation. Look for more information in future Updates about the Garretts and this very special fund to help our veterans.

If you or someone you know would like to be a part of this legacy of health and healing, contact us at 757-457-7270 or email us at info@caycereilly.edu. And visit our website at www.EdgarCayce.org/CayceReillyMassageSchool/

THE A.R.E. HEALTH CENTER & SPA
Your A.R.E. Health Center & Spa rolls out a new brochure in October, including Personal Counseling, new Clinical Spa Packages and, by popular demand, a Back Facial – which will be the Cayce-traditional hot-towel and clay “facial” method, and includes foot massage to raise the relaxation value! In each of the last few months, the Spa has welcomed close to 200 new clients per month. From October 20-26, we are participating as a provider in the national Spa Week, when we’ll have 1-hour Cayce/Reilly® Massage, Acupressure, or CranioSacral Therapy for $50 each. Call the spa at 757-457-7202 early to schedule – this week books up fast!

ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY
Atlantic University student Jennifer Lipski recently launched 8 Minutes of Awesome. This website is a collection of candid interviews with people sharing their unique journeys and profound messages with the world. From around the globe, you’ll hear genuine experiences. While every conversation is unique, each person weaves amazing focus, intention, and passion into their individual message.

“The concept of 8 Minutes of Awesome came to me during a vivid dreamscape one afternoon in March of 2014, while living and traveling abroad on my own personal journey. This awakening was awesome, light-filled, and joyous - and I knew unequivocally that which I needed to do. From that moment, I was lit from within to bring forward the stories and voices of others. And thus my mission began: to help share the personal and inspired messages that need to be heard."

Contemporary Cayce: A Complete Exploration Using Today’s Science and Philosophy NEW FROM A.R.E. PRESS…
Contemporary Cayce: A Complete Exploration Using Today’s Science and Philosophy by Kevin J. Todeschi and Henry Reed. Henry and I have studied, applied, and taught the Cayce material for decades. Using contemporary language that speaks to our time, the book covers twenty-four major topics from the readings and explore the material given from Cayce in light of what we know today in modern science, philosophy, and physics.

Whether you are new to Edgar Cayce or have studied the readings for years, we hope this modern, comprehensive look at his material speaks to where humankind is today in a way that has never before been explored and without the sometimes difficult-to-understand language of the readings.

Annual Conference in Sweden, Big Success

Annual Conference in Sweden, Big Success

September 6-7, 2014, Foundation Edgar Cayce Centre in Sweden organized its 25th Conference since the start in 1994, so it was also 20 years since the Swedish foundation was established.

Sweden Conference 2014

In the beginning of the 1990s, Ole Barry in Sweden read the book Edgar Cayce on the Dead Sea Scrolls by Glenn D. Kettler. He was fascinated and decided to introduce Edgar Cayce to the people in Scandinavia. In 1992, he started his publishing house called Reincarnation Books, and published his first translation of The Sleeping Prophet by Jess Stearn. Two years later he established Foundation Edgar Cayce Centre and organized the first conference with help from the A.R.E.

The Foundation was established in Tyringe, a small town with about 10,000 inhabitants, in the south of Sweden, where also the conferences were held for about the first 10 years. By that time it was no longer possible to be at the hotel where the conferences took place, so they were moved to a place by the sea but are now back in Tyringe.

The conference hotel is called Tyringe Kurhotell and was established in 1904, as a health resort hotel with modern therapies, fresh air, good nature, and different kinds of water and light therapies. The employed doctor, Dr. Otto Reimers, was interested in holistic health and had been to the U.S. Had he met Mr. Cayce? We’re not sure. A couple of blocks from the resort there was a spring to which the guests walked and drank water. The spring is still there, but you have to take the water from a tube that has the same water as the town—a very good and healthy water though. The health resort was active until the end of the 1950s when it became a place for conferences.

So, this year the Swedish Foundation celebrated its 20 years with a fantastic conference. We were very happy to have John Van Auken as our lecturer. Van Auken was one of the lecturers at the conference in 2011 as well, and was most appreciated. Many wanted him to come back, and we were happy that he had the opportunity to come at this special occasion. The theme of this conference was Edgar Cayce on the Life Forces within You: Unlock Your Soul’s Dimension of Life.

Almost 100 people came to our conference, most of them from Sweden but also from other European countries. About half of them had arrived already on Friday, when there was a very nice coming together in the evening. Among the delegates were the founder Ole Barry and also the second chairman of the Foundation, Gösta Montelius, who is now living in Turkey.

Saturday morning, September 6, the present chairwoman, Gun Olofsson, welcomed all the participants telling a bit about the place and the Swedish Foundation. She also gave a short biography of Edgar Cayce since some of the participants were visiting the conference for the first time.

John Van Auken Sweden Conference

Then it was John Van Auken’s turn to present, with the translator Eva Tragardh. Many Swedes know English, yet many want the translation so as not to miss anything.

The first lecture was Edgar Cayce’s Vision of our Ancient Existence as Celestial/Cosmic Beings, a most wonderful opening. The next talk had the title Understanding and Mastering Ego, Self-Expression, and the Ultimate Destiny and Purpose for Your Existence, a talk which gave a lot of exciting and useful information. After a fantastic lunch, the subject was Dreams, Intuition, and Higher Consciousness, a very interesting and giving talk.

The Sunday talks were titled Our Metaphysical Body and Mind and Prophecies, Cycles, and Coming Events. Both days contained meditation sessions and discussion sessions, and were most appreciated.

During the breaks a lot of people wanted to talk to John, asking questions and having books autographed, so John was fully occupied all the time—no breaks!

The participators of this year’s conference were more than satisfied. Everybody appreciated John’s amazingly interesting and informative lectures and the wonderful translator. They did a very good job together. So John is on the top of the list of coming lecturers! And we wish him “Welcome back!”

The two days passed so quickly! Being together like this is an enriching experience. Many of the participants are coming every year, meeting friends, listening to interesting lectures, being filled with energy, and also making new acquaintances. The people who are returning as well as new participants often say, “It is as meeting old friends.” And for sure we all have known each other some lifetime earlier; as Cayce’s reading 2492-2 says it: “Friendships are only the renewing of former purposes, ideals.”

Good For Everyone Herbal Tonic

"Good For Everyone" Herbal Tonic
By Bruce Baar, MS, ND

Edgar Cayce How to Develop Psychic AbilityIt was a day in late March of 1929, just at the beginning of spring, when the sleeping Edgar Cayce offered an herbal formula intended for both individual and more general use. Miss [5450], the reading recipient, was a young woman of 19 years whose skin was marred by a severe case of skin blemishes that she was understandably anxious to resolve.

The first reading in her series of three had taken place in Virginia Beach, Va. Here the underlying cause, reflected in the poor state of the young woman’s complexion, was identified as a number of spinal lesions, especially in the dorsal (thoracic) and lumbar areas. The effect of the resulting "pressures" on the elimination systems was a throwing of toxins into the circulation. The detrimental effects that resulted included toxemia, headaches, chronic low grade fever, a tendency toward both colitis and ulcers, and the appearance of pockets of infection, or boils, on the surface of the skin. Other symptoms included nausea, weakness, tingling of extremities, heavy feet, abdominal distress, and extreme sleepiness.

Cayce’s primary treatment recommendation had been a series of osteopathic adjustments supplemented by doses of Simmons Liver Regulator (a ragweed-based preparation, which is no longer available. Substitute this with Baar Ragweed Tincture) for intestinal cleansing, hot Epsom salts poultices over the lower spine and hips, Violet Ray applications to the eyes, a balanced diet, and Tim (now called Tibbex™) as a liniment for the boils.

Her initial reading was followed by two check readings, and it was noted that some of the treatments originally prescribed were not being followed.

Reading 5450-3 found general improvements but insufficient change in elimination patterns to clear the skin. Now Cayce advised eliminating all sugars from the diet and increasing savory foods. Spinal adjustments were to be continued, as were the colon cleanses and the use of a mineral-based laxative.

Also recommended was a new herbal formulation with the provocative comment, "and this would be good for everyone as a spring tonic…" This is an old-fashioned term for the custom of the annual springtime purge that helps the body release toxins accumulated during a long sluggish winter. This formula, different from the first, consisted of sarsaparilla root, wild cherry bark, dogfennel, yellow dock root, dogwood bark, and prickly ash bark, with balsam of tolu, oil of sassafras, and tincture of capsici. As Cayce observed, "This will assist in clarifying the whole system."

Reports do not indicate whether any of these recommendations were actually followed. Indeed, correspondence more than 35 years later suggests that they were not and that the health issues under discussion were not resolved: "So it seems to us that those lesions in [5450]’s spine were never fully corrected and that she needs the osteopathic treatments especially, with the other general cleansing treatments and tonics recommended in her own readings."

Fortunately for us, the New Seasons™, Herbal Tonic 545™ is now one that anyone can easily obtain. As an internal cleanser and energizer, it is ready to give the body a needed boost at any time of year. All ingredients work together for a specially calculated purpose, although it is also worthwhile to consider some of these herbs individually.

Traditionally regarded as a stimulant and blood purifier, sarsaparilla was valued by Cayce for its strengthening effect on the stomach and intestinal system:

"The Sarsaparilla Root is an emit, or a strengthener to the activities of the secretions in the stomach and intestinal tract." (Edgar Cayce reading #643-1)

"The Sarsaparilla works with the gastric juices of the stomach, and the eliminations in the peristaltic movement through the intestinal tract." (Edgar Cayce reading #1012-1)

The bark of various kinds of cherries, including the black or wild cherry, has been employed as a sedative, stomach soother, cough remedy, and tonic for general weakness. Cayce emphasizes its stimulating effect on the respiratory system:

"The Wild Cherry Bark is an expectorant and a purifier, as combined especially with the other ingredients for the blood supply." (643-1)

"The active principle from the Wild Cherry Bark with the other ingredients is a stimulation to the lungs, throat and bronchials and those organs above the diaphragm." (2790-1)

Yellow dock has deep roots used for various tonic purposes and for its effect on various internal organs:

"The Yellow Dock Root is an emit and blood purifier, an active principle with the secretions of the liver." (643-1)

"The Yellow Dock acts with the DIGESTIVE fluids themselves." (1012-1)

Prickly ash bark has been used in folk medicine as a diuretic, heart remedy, specific for liver complaints and all-around general stimulant. Cayce focuses especially on the liver:

"The Prickly Ash Bark is for the blood supply, as acted upon in the emunctory forces of the liver itself proper." (2790-1)

"The Prickly Ash Bark acts directly with the activative forces in the liver itself, in the gall duct, and as a stimulant to the pancreas and spleen’s activity." (1012-1)

These and the other ingredients work together to ensure that New Seasons™, Herbal Tonic 545™ is an excellent tonic for anyone’s needs at every season of the year!

Peopling of the Americas

(Ancient Mysteries, Unsolved Mysteries, Edgar Cayce Readings) Permanent link

Peopling of the Americas
By John Fuhler

The Edgar Cayce readings document a complex process for the peopling of the Western Hemisphere. According to the readings, the “red race” appeared in the American Southwest and the “brown race” appeared in the Andes. Lemurians settled parts of the American Southwest. Then, Atlanteans arrived in multiple waves, settling eastern North America and parts of South America. At a later date, natives from the Yucatan and from South America settled parts of the American Southeast.

Also identified are several other groups that influenced the Americas, including what the readings call “The Lost Tribes” or “The Children of Promise.” These epithets refer to the Children of Israel who were dispersed to the nations when Nebuchadnezzar conquered Jerusalem and razed King Solomon’s temple. The readings refer to another group as “those who crossed Beringia.” These were the people from East Asia who crossed the land bridge between Siberia and Alaska some time during the most recent Great Ice Age. The third group, the “Norsemen,” or Vikings, came from the Norse land, or what is now known as Norway.

Beringia Map wikipedia
Beringia area coverage
Source:http://en.wikipedia.org/

At least six life readings indicate that the Lost Tribes (or Children of Promise) settled areas of the Aleutians and parts of the American Southwest.

…the entity was among those when the strangers from the East…the remnants of those people who were of the tribes that were lost…that had settled in the Aleutian Islands… (Edgar Cayce Reading 620-1)

…the entity was in the…land of nativity…when there were the activities of those peoples that were dispersed by the carrying away of the children of promise into captivity…who escaped across the waters into what is now the southwestern portion of…(America). (Edgar Cayce Reading 2540-1)

Only one reading refers to trans-Beringia migrants:

Before this we find the entity was during those periods when there were the settlings in the land that is now known as the Northwest, when there were the entering into this land of those peoples from across what is now known as Alaska or Bering Straits, those individuals that journeyed into the lands now known as the Columbia River section. (Edgar Cayce Reading 620-1)

Blog 09122014

And some 18 readings reveal that America was populated by peoples from the Norse land. Their activities extended from as far south as New York State, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, and as far west as Minnesota.

…we find the entity, from the Norse land, came with those groups who remained in that known as Vinland, or a portion of Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts… (1650-1)

…the entity was in the Norse land…and made many of the excursions into the various parts and lands. And that which eventually came to be the short way across New York State… (3042-1)

Before that the entity was in the Norse land, among those who journeyed into the greater western portion or near to the central portion of Minnesota… (3651-1)

The evidence for the presence of these groups in the Americas varies in quality. An abundance of anecdotal stories of the Lost Tribes in the Americas has circulated since the 16th century, but to date no incontrovertible evidence has surfaced.i In regard to those who crossed Beringia and the Norsemen, we stand on much firmer ground. Genetic and linguistic evidence affirms that the former refers to the ancestors of the Athabascan Indians, whose languages are closely related to Chinese and Tibetan.ii And the first confirmation of Norsemen in North America outside Greenland came to light in the 1960s, when archaeologists discovered unequivocal evidence at L’Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland. Since then several Norse sites have been confirmed on Baffin Island, Canada, as well as on Notre Dame Bay, Newfoundland. iii

The readings provide information about two other possible influences on the Americas: Aliens and Phoenicians.

The entity was among the priestesses of the Mayan experience. It was just before that period when…there were the beginnings of the unfoldments of the understanding that there were…those that were visiting from other worlds or planets. (1616-1)

…the entity’s own peoples then were the first of the Syro-Phoenician groups extended off the borders of the Mediterranean; yea…even into the Sargasso Sea… (1159-1)

Although a modicum of evidence for the presence of the Phoenicians in America existsiv, the readings provide no information about that. Repeatedly various disciplines have confirmed the veracity of certain details provided by the readings. Many other details await corroboration. And so the stage was set for the great influx of Europeans that began in the 16th and 17th centuries that changed forever the cultures and civilizations they found.
