feminine energy, the body-mind connection, aging, and
women’s physical and spiritual health
Four thousand years ago, women were seen as living representatives of the
Great Mother whose cyclical and potent energy gave birth to all existence. Today,
this sacred awareness has been lost or distorted, causing a collective amnesia
among women around the world. This weekend will reawaken the sacred
feminine that lies sleeping within you.
In pursuit of wellbeing, much research has concentrated on external
factors—what we eat and drink, whether we smoke or exercise, and our genetic
makeup. But what if some of the motivating factors of illness come from an even
deeper source—how we think and what we believe about ourselves?
Such perceptions include whether we like the way we look; listen to our body’s
needs; treat ourselves with generosity, respect, and kindness; and even whether
we like being a woman. We are bombarded by media images telling us how
we should look, act, and behave at work, at home, and in our most intimate
relationships. Anything less than perfection can leave us doubting our self-worth.
Society tells us to serve and to sacrifice, and many spend a lifetime as caregivers,
never considering our own needs and desires, creating a lack of balance in our
lives that can affect the health of our body as well as our spirit.
