  1. Do I need a computer in order to participate in an eGroup?

    Yes. All eGroups require access to a computer with internet.

  2. Where are eGroups held?

    eGroups are held in an online forum. There is not a physical location.

  3. Are there specific times I need to be online in order to participate?

    There are no specific times you need to be online. eGroups are accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from anywhere in the world as long as you have internet access.

  4. Are there assignments that have to be turned in?

    There are no graded assignments but the mentor will suggest exercises, readings, audios, and videos that will further your learning. Sometimes the mentor will ask questions that can be answered by posting in the designated discussion area.

  5. Do I have to post in the discussion area?

    While it is always available, there is no requirement to post in the discussion area.

  6. What are the technical requirements?

    You will need a computer with an internet connection and a working email address. You should also have a basic understanding of the internet, email, and audio and video files.

    eGroups contain PDF files:
    Some browsers have a built-in PDF reader. For others, it will be necessary to download the PDF file and open it with a PDF reader. To learn more and download a free copy of Adobe Reader, http://get.adobe.com/reader

    eGroups contain audio files:
    Your computer should have speakers so that you can listen to the audio files. You will need the ability to play MP3 audio files. This will vary based on your operating system and browser. You can download a free version of Windows Media Player here.

    NOTE:For Macintosh and other browsers: If you experience problems with the WMA audio files, please use the MP3 files or you can download Windows Media Player for Mac.

    eGroups contain video files:
    You may need the ability to play Flash files. To learn more about your player, please visit http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ To download Flash, http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

    Dial-up is not recommended because almost all of the eGroups have audio and video files.

  7. Can I save and download the material to my computer to view and listen to later?

    You can always save the files from the eGroup for personal use. Some of the MP3 files can be saved and transferred to a portable device.

  8. How long is this material available?

    eGroups generally close after two weeks, so it is recommended that you save any materials during the eGroup session or immediately afterwards.
