Biography Gives First-Hand Account of
Famous Psychic Edgar Cayce
Virginia Beach, Va. – Millions worldwide have turned to the readings of Edgar Cayce for advice on health and spiritual growth. Drawing from his experience as Cayce’s longtime associate, Harmon Bro, PhD, has written a firsthand account in A Seer Out of Season (A.R.E. Press), his full-length biography of the gifted psychic. His intimate prose tells the story of an enigmatic Kentucky farm boy with no formal education who became the soft- spoken seer who inspired so many and left a legacy of more than 14,000 documented readings. It is also the story of a man who worked diligently to help others—even at the cost of his own health and eventually his life.
“Harmon Bro was one of the few individuals who witnessed hundreds of Edgar Cayce readings,” Kevin J. Todeschi, CEO of Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. said. “He called the story of Edgar Cayce’s life ‘one of the most challenging and appealing adventure stories of modern times.’ For Harmon, Cayce’s life was about much more than the story of a psychic. It was much more than he ever anticipated when he first came to what was then the small town of Virginia Beach in 1943. It became the story of a man with tremendous gifts, tremendous challenges, and a tremendous love for God and humankind. In the end, Harmon was so inspired by what he witnessed in Cayce’s life, that he dedicated much of his life to the tale, wrote his doctoral dissertation on the topic, and would eventually write several books, including this amazing biography, A Seer Out of Season.”
Hailed as the “father of holistic medicine” as well as the catalyst for the New Age movement, Cayce’s works have been translated into dozens of languages, and he has received outpourings of acclaim from individuals, doctors, and spiritual leaders around the globe. As predicted by his psychic readings, the Cayce material has changed the thought of humankind and is more accepted and popular in the mainstream than ever before.
The author, Dr. Harmon Bro, offers an insider’s viewpoint to the life of Edgar Cayce as Bro spent years working with Edgar Cayce during the time he was giving his readings. Though Harmon is deceased, his wife, June Bro, who also worked with Edgar Cayce, currently lives near and volunteers at Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. She is a regular columnist for Venture Inward magazine and wrote a new introduction for this edition of A Seer Out of Season (Bro’s book was originally published in 1989 by New American Library/Penguin, Inc., and has been out of print for some time).
Edgar Cayce founded the non-profit Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in 1931, to explore spirituality, holistic health, intuition, dream interpretation, psychic development, reincarnation, and ancient mysteries—all subjects that frequently came up in the more than 14,000 documented psychic readings given by Cayce, who died in 1945. The organization’s publishing arm, A.R.E. Press, has been printing books since 1931, and over time has added DVDs and CDs to its catalog, with the mission of supporting the work of the A.R.E. and its goal of helping people change their lives for the better. In 2009, A.R.E. Press launched its second imprint, 4th Dimension Press. While A.R.E. Press features topics related to the work of Edgar Cayce in the fields of spirituality, intuition, psychic abilities, ancient mysteries, philosophy, comparative religious studies, personal and spiritual development, and holistic health, 4th Dimension Press allows us to take our publishing efforts further with like-minded and expansive explorations into the mysteries and spirituality of our existence.
