New Book Explores Lifestyle Changes to Prevent
and Even Reverse the National Epidemic of Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s Disease: A Holistic Approach press releaseVirginia Beach, Va. – The 2013 Alzheimer’s disease report from the Alzheimer’s Association states that 1 in 3 Americans dies of Alzheimer’s or another dementia. Alzheimer’s is now the sixth leading cause of death. Can something as simple as lifestyle changes help stem the tide of what seems to be a national epidemic? Author and holistic nutritionist Michelle Deetken, PhD, gives us hope that each of us can play a role in the health of our brains. Using her many years of experience and training as a holistic nutritionist, her new book Alzheimer’s Disease: A Holistic Approach (4th Dimension Press) demonstrates how even small efforts can reap huge rewards.

Simple efforts, such as incorporating an exercise routine and regular stimulation of the mind through mental activities will keep us on our toes as we age. Each of her tips and helpful tools can play a major role in keeping our brains healthy. These simple changes can even impact whether or not our brain ages successfully or declines with neurodegenerative disorders.

Author Michelle R. Deetken, PhD, is a holistic nutritionist with a doctorate in nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health and a bachelor’s in biology from the University of Nevada-Reno. An introduction to the holistic health readings of Edgar Cayce in the 1980s was the catalyst for her pursuit of a holistic education. Through her experience and research, she has found that simple, positive lifestyle changes can prevent and even reverse some diseases.

Edgar Cayce founded the non-profit Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in 1931, to explore spirituality, holistic health, intuition, dream interpretation, psychic development, reincarnation, and ancient mysteries—all subjects that frequently came up in the more than 14,000 documented psychic readings given by Cayce, who died in 1945. The organization’s publishing arm, A.R.E. Press, has been printing books since 1931, and over time has added DVDs and CDs to its catalog, with the mission of supporting the work of the A.R.E. and its goal of helping people change their lives for the better. In 2009, A.R.E. Press launched its second imprint, 4th Dimension Press. While A.R.E. Press features topics related to the work of Edgar Cayce in the fields of spirituality, intuition, psychic abilities, ancient mysteries, philosophy, comparative religious studies, personal and spiritual development, and holistic health, 4th Dimension Press focuses its publishing efforts on other like-minded and expansive explorations into the mysteries and spirituality of our existence.
