The 2008
Congress Planning Team invites members to
the annual meeting, themed, "Living La Vida Cayce:The Cayce Lifestyle."
This year's Congress will be
held Sunday, June 22 to Friday, June 27 at A.R.E.
Headquarters in Virginia Beach, a week later
than in previous year's at the request of the
membership.
Based on the Cayce principle of "Spirit is the Life, Mind is the Builder, the Physical is the result," each day of the week will be devoted to one part of this formula, with workshops and panel discussions geared to the theme of the day. We've all heard this Cayce principle but have we really thought about what it means? Do we really create our physical bodies out of our attitudes and emotions? How do we live a healthy life in a world of fast food? How do we live a joyful life in the "Age of Terror?" What
does it really mean to be living a spiritual life in a material world?
Harold J. Reilly, author of The Edgar
Cayce Handbook for Health Through Drugless Therapy, would have summarized "Living
La Vida Cayce" with the acronym C.A.R.E. - Circulation, Assimilation, Recreation,
and Elimination. Congress 2008 will provide opportunities to circulate, assimilate,
recreate, and eliminate anything standing in the way of fully expressing
Spirit in our lives - "Living
La Vida Cayce."
After the traditional picnic on Sunday, June 22 at 4:30
p.m., the opening ceremony starts at 7:00 p.m. featuring Peter Woodbury's
dramatic portrayal of Edgar Cayce, welcoming all to Congress as Cayce did
in the early days. Ed Foote will
then lead us in Spiritual Dance, which he
describes as "a joyful celebration of movement which unites people in community...
a physical expression of harmony and prayer which results in a feeling of
peace."
Mornings
will begin with Cayce exercises led by Peter Van Daam, and a 5-minute Energy Medicine routine taught by Ellen Selover and Denise Furgason. The Youth will provide a continental breakfast Monday through Thursday (donations appreciated), with a full breakfast on Friday. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings, there will be presentations by the A.R.E. departmental staff detailing such exciting new initiatives as the Chinese and Spanish outreach programs, the Internet outreach program, eGroups, archaeological research, and others. The A.R.E. Board will join us Thursday morning.
Workshops on a variety of topics addressing an approach
to a practical spirituality, Living La Vida Cayce, will happen in the late
mornings. Lunches for purchase will be available from The Organic Planet,
as well as "V.I.P. lunches" with A.R.E. authors and speakers at local restaurants.
Sharing-group discussions will take place after lunch Monday, Tuesday, and
Thursday. Last year's delightful Dolphin
Cruise will be repeated Wednesday
afternoon.
The Monday and Tuesday evening
programs will include Temple
Beautiful dance performances led by Elizabeth Waitekus followed by panel discussions.
Monday's panel, "Integrating Body, Mind, and Spirit" will include Kevin Todeschi, John Van Auken, and Mark Thurston. Tuesday's panel, "Tuning the Human Instrument" will include Peter Van Daam, Bruce Baar, Greg LaGana and Dr. Eric Mein. Wednesday and Thursday evenings will feature the auction and talent show. Finally, on Monday through Thursday "after-hours," all are invited to "The Cayce Café," to
share the gift of yourself and how you express Spirit
- in poetry, stories, and music.
Congress concludes Friday with the election of next
year's Congress planning team, a presentation by the Youth Congress, and
an evening of fun at the"Come As You Were (in a past life) Party" social and dance.
Youth Congress will hold a fund-raising spaghetti dinner for conferees Tuesday (last year's was delicious!). Coordinator Daniel Davis promises "discussions
of basic Edgar Cayce principles in a fun, youthful environment. And lots of beach
time."
Items for the auction are appreciated. Send items to
