A.R.E. HOUSTON CENTER

The A.R.E. has acquired a 17,000-square foot
facility in Houston in order to launch an A.R.E.
headquarters in Texas. “Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E.—Houston
Center” will have its own spa, conference center, and
bookstore. We plan to have a grand opening in 2009.
This is a thrilling new expansion for the A.R.E. and is
the first time in our 77-year history that we have owned
and operated a site outside of Virginia Beach.
RESEARCH

The search for the lost continent of Atlantis and Cayce’s Hall of Records continues!
Late next
summer two
documentaries
will reveal
new
developments
in excavation
projects off
the coast of
Bimini. Drs.
Greg and
Lora Little participated in both
programs, to be
broadcast on the television series “Go Deep II” and “I
Prophecy.” The documentaries will air worldwide in 28
different languages and feature amazing aerial and
underwater footage of the Bimini Road and Paradise
Point Pier.
In Egypt the A.R.E team, led by explorer and author
Andrew Collins, has discovered massive caves beneath
the pyramids on the Giza plateau. Also, Collins found a
new star alignment over the pyramids. Fascinatingly, a
portion of the constellation points to the entrance to
the caves. A.R.E. Director John Van Auken is meeting
with Dr. Zahi Hawass in Egypt to discuss future
explorations of these caves—always seeking to find the
Hall of Records.
For updated news on these archaeological expeditions,
you can log on to the special Members section of the
A.R.E. Web site and read our Ancient Mysteries
newsletter.
INTERNATIONAL
OUTREACH

The first South American Congress, held in April in
Guayaquil, Ecuador, attracted more than 300 attendees, many of whom signed up to become
A.R.E. members.
This year, we provided A.R.E. Press books to
international Cayce centers and Study Group libraries
in more than 45 countries, allowing the local
representatives to expand their outreach. Postal rates
have increased tremendously, and our book-mailing
projects rely entirely on donations. We are extremely
grateful for your support, which helps us achieve our
goal of global availability for the Cayce legacy.
PRISON OUTREACH
PROGRAM

In the past year, we have sent more
than 10,000 Cayce books to prisoners
and prison libraries—even more than last year’s record
number, thanks to your increased contributions to this
program! We were able
to hire a research
intern who is helping
get Cayce books into
the nation’s strictest
prisons and into
juvenile correction
facilities. In Virginia
we have begun the
approval process with
two juvenile
correctional facilities, with hopes that our books will
be in the hands of these young people before
Christmas. With your continued support, we can
continue to reach incarcerated juveniles in many other
states as well.
$100 sends a package of books to 20 prisoners

$240 ($20/mo.) sends a package of books to 50
prisoners

$2,500 allows us to purchase 45 cases of There Is a River (2,700 books)

These books have opened my eyes, spiritually and
mentally . . .
I want to thank you for helping me.” A.T.

“I would like to contribute to A.R.E. for the books I've
received, but being in jail, with no income, limits what I
can spend money on. However, I am extremely grateful
to those who do contribute so others such as myself can
receive the blessings from those teachings.” L.P.
PRAYER AND
MEDITATION
SERVICES

From the depths of India to the suburbs of North
America to the cells of Folsom Prison, more than 3,600
people participate with A.R.E.’s International Prayer
List every month. All participants dedicate themselves
to faithfully praying for people on our prayer list while
also diligently applying the principles provided in our
inspirational prayer letter each month. This great
service is supported completely by your donations and is
daily increasing people’s participation in healing prayer
and meditation.
Your gifts will help with the financial cost of
printing and mailing the monthly prayer list. Currently,
it costs over $1,500 each month.
“Please know that all your prayers for my brother were
received and brought a miracle to our family. While there
is still quite a road to travel, thanks to your help, we
know we are held in the hands of grace as we journey
forward. Please feel the gratitude from the depths of our
hearts into yours.” D.M.
LIBRARY

The Library attracts
more than 35,000
visitors each year. We
have a foreign book
section with books in
over 23 languages,
plus more than 300
Circulating Files on
topics from the
Cayce readings, like“Autism,”
“Reincarnation,” and “Visualization.” Our local patrons
are enjoying the new media lounge, where you can
listen to more than 15,000 A.R.E. lectures on our new
conference archive computer. We also integrated a new
security system to preserve our rare collection of
metaphysical material. All of these improvements
happened thanks to your donations.
$500 buys 25 new CDs or DVD's for the Library’s
media section

$1,000 adds 50 new books to the Library shelves
CAYCE/REILLY® SCHOOL OF MASSOTHERAPY

Over the past year, 40 exceptional healers have graduated from our programs. The Cayce/Reilly School received three commendations for excellence this year from our accrediting agency. We were awarded for our excellent business practices and for our integrated community, where every member of the school knows and lives our mission and purpose. The school was also commended for the extraordinary A.R.E. Library.
A.R.E. as a whole received an “unofficial” commendation because of the sincere friendliness and approachable nature of all staff and volunteers. We are proud to continue sharing the Cayce wellness model in the original spirit of the readings.
$1,000 purchases a power point projector for classroom use

$3,000 buys new chairs for our lecture classroom
“Cayce/Reilly is a top-notch school with a heart for students. I would gladly recommend it to anyone looking for a professional and nurturing environment.”P.P., Virginia
A.R.E. HEALTH CENTER AND SPA

In the past twelve months, the A.R.E. Health Center and Spa has provided 13,440 holistic therapies to clients who visited the A.R.E. from all over the world.
Growing use of our newer therapies, Holistic Psychotherapy, Inner Sound Therapy, Spiritual Counseling, and Donna Eden Energy Medicine, confirms our clients’ readiness for help with body, mind, and spirit healing.
$400 purchases two violet ray devices, used in con-junction with other therapies to balance the nervous systems and enhance repair of nerve and other tissue

$3,500 tiles the floor and replaces badly worn sink and cabinets in our hydrotherapy room Comments from our guest book always confirm for us the value of this work.
And our favorite

SPIRITUAL GROWTH
GROUPS

Phone calls and e-mails pour in daily, requesting
A Search for God books and guidance on organizing a successful spiritual growth Study Group. This year alone, we mailed, free of charge, A Search for God (books I &II) and the Step by Step guide to more
than 100 individuals and groups around the world. We also inform A.R.E. members when a new Study Group
is forming in their area. Many times members who believe they are the “only one” are pleasantly surprised
to find there are so many “A.R.E. people” living in their
community. If you would like information on joining or starting a Study Group, please contact us at 877-428-
2734 or studygroups@edgarcayce.org.
“Our study group reads the original readings for each
chapter, then the corresponding chapter in A Search for
God, followed by the chapter in Kevin Todeschi’s 12
Lessons in Personal Spirituality. Each week we see a
new perspective and find new ways to apply the
principles. This is how I get my ‘charge’ to keep on
keeping on!” T.R., Virginia Beach #4
Our online eGroups have been extremely popular as
well. Learn about Spiritual Ideals, Vibrations, Psychic
Ability, and more with A.R.E. teachers in the comfort
of your own home. For information about upcoming
egroups, visit our Web site: EdgarCayce.org/eGroup.
$1,500 sends Study Group materials (A Search for
God, Book I, and Step by Step guide) to 100 new
inquirers.

$2,000 will allow us to reprint enough Step by Step
guide books to last through next year. (We’re almost
out.)
YOUTH AND FAMILY

Almost all A.R.E. Camp programs
were filled to the brim this year with
more than 500 people participating over the summer.
In its third year, our Helena Patti Day Camp welcomed
more children than during any other summer. And our
New Year’s Youth Program saw a record number of 52
young people converge in Virginia Beach to dream,
meditate, and have fun together exploring the Cayce
concepts. At our New Year’s conference, we will offer a
program for younger children (ages 6 to 10)—a Parent’s
Night Out—and an all-night event for older youth on
New Year’s Eve. Your donations help keep tuition low and provide scholarships for those who could not otherwise attend. Thank you.
Send a Child to Camp
or a
Youth Program

$300 sends a child to one week of A.R.E. Camp, to the New Year’sYouth Event, or to two weeks of the A.R.E. Helena Patti Day Camp
$1,000 sends one family to Family Camp or pays one month of A.R.E. Camp’s electric bill
A.R.E. PRESS

We published our first audio books on CD—There Is a River and Edgar Cayce on the Akashic Records. These have been very popular, and we are planning more in the future. We are also thrilled to announce that in 2009 we will be launching a brand-new imprint of A.R.E. Press called “4th Dimension Books.” We have books by leading-edge researchers, such as Andrew Collins and Adrian Gilbert, coming out under that imprint.
“Studying the readings gives me a guidebook for life—how to treat others and myself, how to trust and have faith. How to find hope when it seems all is lost. Giving my tithe to A.R.E. is the least I can do for the Work that has given me a lifetime of direction and comfort. Through marriages, divorces, deaths, career, and friendships . . .
the words of the readings have been the one constant in my life. Thank you.” R.S., New Mexico
CONFERENCES

We are beginning to publish A.R.E. Headquarters conferences on DVD to great success. They are very popular. Our first DVD—“Ancient Mysteries,” featuring John Van Auken—has already gone into a second printing. We are in the middle of a much-needed

technology upgrade, which will eventually allow us to offer video-streaming of our lectures and conferences on our Web site.
$325 provides a scholarship for a conference attendee experiencing financial hardships
INTERNET OUTREACH

In addition to the millions who view our main Web site (edgarcayce.org) each year, the A.R.E. is using the Internet to introduce the Cayce material in some new ways. We now have more than 1,000 “friends” on MySpace, with more than 100 people actively engaging in our dream group on that site. Our Cayce video views on YouTube have now exceeded 320,000 views! Lots of young people are getting their first taste of Cayce wisdom through our sources on the Internet.
MEMBERSHIP

We currently have 31,000 members (down from 33,000 in 2007). We have seen a downward trend in membership over the past year as our economy continues to slow. But we continue to reach new people daily. We created a “green” eMembership (the option of having all benefits delivered electronically) with great success. We already have more than 2,000 new eMembers. This is four times our original goal! We also introduced Spanish eMembership. Nearly 50 individuals signed up as new Spanish eMembers at our Latin American Congress in Ecuador alone.
ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY

AU has 15 graduates earning their master’s degrees in Trans-personal Studies in 2008—our largest number ever in one year. In our on going effort to expand our offerings, we are also developing and pilot-testing a new array of distance-learning courses for professional Continuing Education credits.
Help us achieve our place in the world of twenty-first-century education—we need to buy education software to enable a secure exchange of lesson plans and student and faculty communications. Support the school’s growth and stability. (All gifts welcomed!)
$750 provides a tuition scholarship to a student an AU course.

“Looking back on my studies with Atlantic University, I am so grateful to have had this opportunity to change my life and have a more positive effect on people in my life.”

UPKEEP OF A.R.E. HEADQUARTERS

A wonderful addition to the A.R.E. Visitors Center is the new Gladys Davis Meeting Room, dedicated to the memory of Edgar Cayce’s long time personal secretary. Now visitors can see the sofa that Edgar Cayce used while giving readings, as well as look at photos of and articles about Gladys. Her good energy fills this room and blesses all of us at the A.R.E
$2,800 adds a sprinkler system for the labyrinth garden

$4,700 replaces the 33-year-old drapes and chair cushions in our beloved meditation room
