Atlantic University Announces
Residential Course The Examined Life
Virginia Beach, Va. – Atlantic University presents The Examined Life, a residential 15-week
course taught by local psychotherapist Tom Baker, on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 p.m.,
beginning September 1. Baker will help individuals examine their lives from the perspective of
a spiritual journey, exploring patterns in one’s present life that may be part of an over-
arching spiritual purpose throughout a person’s many lives. Individuals will also examine the
deficits found in each life that may be providing challenges and motivations in accomplishing
one’s life purpose or mission. By the completion of the course, students will have a detailed
template of their life to work with so that further spiritual growth can be achieved.
This interactive classroom course will include such topics as the Enneagram, and Jungian
preference types of introversion/extroversion, intuition/sensory, feeling/thinking, and
process/judgment to show how each of these may reveal the individuality of the soul.
Students will also examine the deficits and traumas of their childhood and adolescence to see
how these shaped their determination in their growth toward their ideal.
Tom Baker, MDiv, MSW, is a licensed social worker and psychotherapist in Virginia Beach
