Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. Is Growing Online

Virginia Beach, Va. – The nonprofit organization founded by Edgar Cayce in 1931 is growing ever more modern in its use of online marketing tools with pages and profiles on social networking sites such as Facebook, twitter, and Ning; more than 60 videos on its own YouTube channel, and now an expansion onto eBay using the MissionFish nonprofit giving partnership called eBay Giving Works!

“Edgar Cayce always said to ‘reach people where they are,’” says A.R.E.’s marketing director, Jennie Taylor Martin. “And that’s exactly what we’re trying to do. In today’s world, people of all ages and backgrounds are finding content, socializing, and supporting their causes online. We want to be there when our supporters come looking for us.”

Martin commented that one of the organization’s YouTube videos has received 160,000 views, something that not only brings values to the viewers but doesn’t cost the organization a dime. “There are so many new ways for us to reach out into a world that is growing in its interest of a body-mind-spirit nature.” One of those ways is through eBay. Martin points out that eBay has 309 million registered users worldwide. “And we believe many of our supporters could be amongst those users.” The eBay Giving Works! Program offers them an easy way to support their cause, and it also offers us an opportunity to reach out to others.

Statistically, eBay finds that their eBay Giving Works auctions sell 50% more often at a price that is 40% higher than average. Plus eBay gives back seller fees in direct portion to the percentage donated to the nonprofit. As Martin says, “It’s a win-win situation.”

Edgar Cayce founded the non-profit Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in 1931, to explore spirituality, holistic health, intuition, dream interpretation, psychic development, reincarnation, and ancient mysteries—all subjects that frequently came up in the more than 14,000 documented psychic readings given by Cayce, who died in 1945. The mission of A.R.E. is simply to help people around the world change their lives for the better through the ideas and information found in the readings. The Virginia Beach headquarters is a popular site for locals and tourists with free daily lectures, a Health Center and Spa, the Cayce/Reilly® School of Massotherapy, an extensive metaphysical library, a meditation garden, a stone labyrinth, and a bookstore and gift shop. Visitors from around the world come to our conferences to hear expert speakers on subjects like ancient mysteries, holistic health, and spiritual development. A.R.E. also maintains an affiliation with Atlantic University. Through its many programs, services, publications, and membership outreach, Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. provides individuals from all walks of life and a variety of religious backgrounds with tools for personal transformation and healing at all levels—body, mind, and spirit.
