The 5th EuroCongress was held in wonderful Copenhagen
on August 26-28, 2005. A hotel was booked in the centre of
Copenhagen, within a ten minutes’ walk from the Town
Hall, Tivoli and the Central Station. .
The hotel is situated next to one of the
small lakes in Copenhagen, which actually were part of the
medieval moats that were once part of the defense of Copenhagen.
If you want to know more about the hotel, you can visit their
homepage on: www.cabinn.com click on: Scandinavia
The congress started on Friday afternoon
at 2pm and closed on Sunday afternoon at 5pm (August 26th
- 28th). On Saturday evening, a dinner was planned in Tivoli
for those who were interested. Sightseeing trips were arranged,
also for those who were interested.
On Thursday 25th a bus-tour of Copenhagen
was planned to see the Queen’s palace Amalienborg, The
Little Mermaid and Hamlet’s Castle Kronborg in Elsinore,
North of Copenhagen.
Friday
morning a canal-tour in the harbor was organized.
The main language of the conference was
English. Simultaneous translations into Danish and German
were available.
The Danish group was very happy to
organize the congress. It is always a wonderful experience
to be together with Cayce people. They matched the standards
of the earlier congresses, even if Copenhagen has been nominated
the 7th most expensive city in the world.
In 2005 Denmark celebrated two important
anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hans
Christian Andersen, the famous author of fairytales, and…
the 10th anniversary of the Danish Edgar Cayce Society.

Euro Congress 2005:General account of the
Congress
The Euro Congress is
an international event organized every other year by the European
Edgar Cayce centers. It takes place, each time, in a different
country. In 2005 it was held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on August
26-28.
Euro Congress 2005 attracted 93 people from
10 different countries. A number of Cayce center directors
from other countries (including the Czech Republic, England,
Portugal, and Japan) intended to participate, but could not
make it this year. Unfortunately no one attended from the
U.K., because the annual conference of the English center
was taking place the following weekend (their dates had been
set over a year before and could not be changed).
Euro
Congress 2005 was sponsored by the Danish Edgar Cayce Society.
The main organizers were Anne Pedersen (chairperson), John
Pedersen (webmaster and translator), Aase Harrekilde-Petersen
(secretary), and Lilly Larsen (treasurer). They received help
from other dedicated volunteers. All of them did a fabulous
job.
Euro Congress 2005 went quite smoothly. The
talks were varied and interesting. The participants were encouraged
to interact with people from other countries. The schedule
was nicely designed to make this possible. Everybody had a
great time and made many new friends. It was inspiring to
hear people share their personal stories and express their
passion for the Edgar Cayce readings.
Copenhagen is truly a beautiful city. Its
clean air, wide avenues, pedestrian streets, fine architecture
and typical houses create an inviting and relaxed atmosphere.
Optional bus and canal tours prior to the Congress gave the
participants a good idea of the treasures Copenhagen has to
offer.
The Euro Congress is a wonderful opportunity
to meet like-minded individuals from all over the world, to
learn more about the Edgar Cayce legacy, to see other countries
and to experience different cultures. We highly recommend
it...
A.R.E. Tours had organized a seven-day cruise
in the Baltic Sea, following the congress (August 28 - September
4). The cruise, on board the Costa Atlantica ship, included
visits of Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; St. Petersburg,
Russia; and Tallinn, Estonia. It was an unforgettable adventure
for all the participants.
