CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME

The information contained in the Edgar Cayce Health database should not be regarded as a guide to self-diagnosis or self-treatment. The cooperation of a qualified health care professional is essential if one wishes to apply the principles and techniques described in this database.

    To give you a sense of how Edgar Cayce responded to persons suffering from fatigue, here are some excerpts from readings given for persons suffering from severe and/or persistent fatigue in its various manifestations.  In the excerpts with follow, note the following themes:

  • Poor assimilation of nutrients;
  • Poor elimination of waste (toxicity);
  • Acid/alkaline imbalance of the body tending toward acidity (or even "superacidity");
  • Glandular dysfunction;
  • Immune system dysfunction;
  • Mental and spiritual aspects fatigue;
  • Use of  a variety of therapeutic modalities such as the Radio-Active (Radial) Appliance, hydrotherapy, diet, and manual therapy for healing.
EXCERPTS FROM THE CAYCE READINGS ON FATIGUE

(Q)  Why am I in a practically chronic state of fatigue, with intermittent sick headaches and the inability to get sufficient sleep?
(A)  As just indicated, because of the poisons and the toxic forces, as well as the lack of the energies in supplying to the red blood system.  And the overtaxing of the sympathetic system by the suggestive forces.  (1779-1)

(Q)  What causes periods of utter fatigue?
(A)  Lack of proper assimilation, and nervous reaction.   (337-25)

(Q)  What causes the terrible and frequent spells of weakness and heavy fatigue?
(A)  Owing to poisons that accumulate in the circulatory forces between the superficial and deeper circulation.  Hence the need of the manipulatory forces for stimulation of eliminations, and the electrical forces for revivifying coordinations between cerebro-spinal and sympathetic system; as well as the stimulation from a little EXCESS of the calcium - or Calcios - in the system.   (337-23)

(Q)  What is the cause of the constant fatigue, weakness and drowsiness?
(A)  Self poisoning - it has just been indicated in that given!  (2710-3)

    Digestive system, or the assimilating portion of the digestive system, shows the effects that are created from those conditions that have been outlined.  As does also the capillary circulation, in the irritations that are produced in the system at times, and on portions of the body.  These also make for those conditions which produce weakness, fatigue, and the tiredness that occurs either from mental or physical activity, or any exertion of a kind that calls for the using of energies within the system itself.   (578-1)

(Q)  Fatigue?
(A)  Fatigue, of course, is from the LACK Of proper assimilations, or brought on by poisons fatiguing the impulse of the nervous system; and is a GENERAL condition.  This will be gradually overcome by the better activities.   (1553-20)

    IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find not much changed from that we had before as affecting the system, yet much change in the elements and constituents in the supply itself, for we find that there has been that bacilli in the system that attacks directly the mucous producing portions in the system, and this has caused much distress in coagulation in used portions in the system; that is, with the lack of this necessary to produce more leucocyte in blood, on account of the system being hindered by these bacilli, the body has not that vitality necessary.  Easily fatigued, easily susceptible to congestion, easily put under strain physically and mentally, and adding to that condition there has been that mixture in infectious conditions that aggravated and accentuated this condition.  Hence the easy congestion in all mucous producing centers.   (5454-2)

    IN THE BLOOD SUPPLY, this we find above the normal in its pressure, and carrying that bacilli as is produced from toxins in its own system from condition in the intestinal tract, especially that about that which produces the rebuilding, or new blood supply in the system.  This condition we see affecting the organs through which the elimination of such bacilli, or toxins, should be eliminated.
    We have the excess of red blood cells.  Deficient in white, though coagulation takes place in the system with exertion.  Hence the dullness to many of the nerve centers, and the easily fatigued condition comes to the body from either physical or high mental exertion, which happens through the sympathetic and not of the mental forces.   (4182-1)

(Q)  Why do I wake up sometimes with a fatigue I am unable to shake off through the day?
(A)  As indicated, this is superacidity in the system.  Hence the necessity of there being not only the osteopathic corrections of the pressures upon the ganglia through the areas indicated, that cause incoordination between the cerebrospinal and sympathetic nervous system, but the correcting of the acidity in the body.  For, with these conditions, the overactivities of the body cause those reactions to the sensory forces.   (2771-2)

    We find that the NERVOUS FORCES of the body indicate more the weakness, the fatigue, that comes on with the overacidity that naturally arises from a weakened blood supply, a slow elimination, a disturbance in the hepatics.  This all tends to make for superacidity in the body, and makes for depletion in the nervous forces of the body.   (929-1)

    These show the poor eliminations and the tendency for portions of the body to become easily fatigued and weary from activities that cause the use of energies in the body; thus producing the great quantities of the acids not eliminated from the system.   (1713-20)

(Q)  Why am I always fatigued?
(A)  As just indicated.  This taxation to the glandular force takes from the body the vitality, and thus the change somewhat in diet - and especially these precautionary measures not only as to the corrections osteopathically to be made, but as to being careful in the diet.   (2578-1)

(Q)  Why general fatigue on some days?
(A)  Disappointment, discouragements, - these are purely mental, when fully analyzed.  (2771-1)

(Q)  How can I overcome strain and tenseness that makes me taut and interferes with rest?  (It undoubtedly has something to do with the fatigue.)
(A)  As just indicated.  This has been included in the causes and the corrections for the general conditions.  And, as given, these will fit the body for the service it desires to contribute to those activities in this experience.
    The spiritual enlightenment as may come through those periods of meditation will assist the body in making its choice of the service it would give.
    For, today - as given of old - there is set before thee good and evil, life and death; choose thou.   (2800-1)

 (Q)  What will relieve mental fatigue?
(A)  The same; as applied to that just given.  When the mental forces are kept as for those things that are constructive or creative in their application in relationships or dealings of the entity to those about it, then these relieve.  For they are OF the universal activity which is CONSTANTLY RENEWING itself by its energies expended in activity.  For, as is understood from the biological activity to produce life, there is given life.  Hence in the mental emergencies or activities, in giving constructive forces there is CREATED in self the mental energies that RENEW self.  Just as do those activities of love beget love; patience begetting patience; kindness begetting kindness; brotherly love showing forth in its activity that which becomes such as to make for hope eternally renewed within the human breast.
    And these coordinated with a nominal, normal activity of the physical body, RENEW the whole influences of same.   (1063-1)

(Q)  How may I overcome complete fatigue, and pull myself together?
(A)  As indicated, it may only be done by such physical activities in the companionship of those who intend or are inclined to make for creating an atmosphere that makes for the overcoming of such.   (480-47)

    And we would use the Radio-Active [Radial] Appliance to bring an aid in coordinating the mental AND the physical forces of the body; keeping the plates clean before and after attaching to the body each time this is used.  Use whenever tired, fatigued, or when there is any feeling of great MENTAL anxiety; twenty to fifty to sixty minutes at a time when practical.   (457-4)

    Use the low electrical vibrations OF THE BODY, which may be one effectively through the application of the Radio-Active [Radial] Appliance.  This will enable the body to become quiet easily, to overcome those tendencies at times of restlessness when attempting to sleep.  Attach this to the body whenever it is tired or fatigued, for twenty to thirty minutes.  Let the Appliance be in the ice, and the applicators or wires attached to it, for five or ten minutes before it is attached to the body.  Keep the attachment plates clean and polished, before and after using.  When taking it for insomnia, or to enable the body to rest, make the attachment when ready to retire - for an hour.   (2109-1)

    We would also use, each day, those vibratory forces as may be had from the use of the Radio-Active [Radial] Appliance, which will make for that polarity in the system of the extremities, in such a way as to prevent for the body that of the tendency of the tingling sensation, or quivery feeling as felt in extremities, especially if the least bit fatigued.   (197-1)

    Use occasionally the Radio-Active [Radial] Appliance, which creates an equal balance through the system.  This would be used for thirty minutes each day for periods of two to three weeks, left off for a period of a week to two weeks and then begun again; or it may be used oftener if there are those periods of fatigue or heaviness, or the tendency for the activity of cold or congestion to produce greater quantities of irritation.  For these Fume Baths are not weakening on the system as the Hydrotherapy Sweats would be, and may be taken every day or so if desired - but alternate the properties for the fumes in the manner indicated.
(Q)  For fatigue and nervous exhaustion?
(A)  As given.  The Fume Baths, sweats and rubs, and ESPECIALLY the Radio-Active [Radial] Appliance for reionizing and revitalizing the system.
    Do as has been given, and we will find all of these disturbances being eliminated from the system.
    Circulate the attachments of the Appliance about the body in the ways and orders as indicated for its use; keeping the anodes clean.  Restlessness, insomnia and irritation will disappear.   (1472-2)

    But FIRST we would have the low electrical forces that would ATTUNE the bodily forces to coordinate one with another.
    Then also we would have the hydrotherapy and the electrical forces.
    Work and associate with those influences or forces wherein there is help being lent or given to others.  This will also create an atmosphere, and attitude for the body mentally and  physically that will be constructive.
(Q)  How may I overcome constant fatigue physically which results in disinterestedness in people and in my work?
(A)  As indicated; in the manners that have been outlined.   (1189-2)

(Q)  Why do pains recur mostly in lower part of abdomen, kidneys, stomach and sinus region of head, with general fatigue?
(A)  The pressure upon the axis, as indicated, that should be removed by the general manipulations; and which would extend from the lumbar axis to the limbs; and then the coordinating from the brachial center on down, of course, from the upper cervicals will make for a change in the GENERAL circulation through soft tissues of the face.   (598-2)
