June 21-23, 2013Geriatric Massage

The beginning level one Day-Break Geriatric workshop focuses on the robust to age-appropriate senior and covers the following topics:
- Physiological, psychological and sociological aspects of aging.
- Client assessment with cautions and contraindications.
This modality teaches specific techniques to address each client's distinct needs from robust to frail seniors. Participants are encouraged to develop clinical reasoning. Practical hands-on work with senior volunteers How to establish a geriatric massage practice. Topics include: marketing to senior facilities, referral sources and active seniors in the community. Geriatric massage increases circulation, stimulates the nervous system, relaxes the mind and softens hardened muscle and connective tissues by increasing the blood supply to affected areas.
September 14-15, 2013 Neuromuscular Therapy I

This workshop focuses on how to work with people in pain. If you change your structure you change your life. Learn how to look at the body as a whole and how to shift the structure of the body to alleviate pain. You will also learn how to make an assessment, gait analysis, and how you work with that to change structure. Focus on working with neck pain and lower back pain, working the front of the body to affect the back of the body as well as working on the back of the body. There is a strong focus on trigger point work. Basic principles of specific injury situations are covered emphasizing the role of the massage therapist.
October 4-6, 2013 Myofascial Release Massage, Part I, Upper Body
Friday, 6 PM - 10 PM; Saturday and Sunday, 9 AM – 6 PM Instructor: Tracy Morris, LMT, CMRM 20 Continuing Education Hours Approved for Continuing Education Hours: NCBTMB, Florida and Texas Tuition: $380 ($330 if paid in full thirty days in advance) Facility Fee: $15 Prerequisite: Certified massage therapist, physical therapist, or occupational therapist or enrolled as a student in one of the above training programs.
In this workshop you will learn to identify, manipulate, and release myofascial tissue that holds chronic, painful, and exhausting stress and tension. In addition, you will gain an understanding of the relationship between posture and emotional attitudes and how constricted myofascial tissue leads to creating and reinforcing emotional negativity. By the end of the workshop you will know how to release this unwanted stress in the chest, neck, shoulders, hands, back and waist, in other words, over the whole upper body. This workshop, taken with the Myofascial Release Massage Part II, Lower Body, will enable you to offer a complete head-to-toe Myofascial Release Massage as well as work on specific problem areas. The hand, neck, and shoulder work is suitable for on-site application as well as clinical practice. We will discuss the conditions and occupations that will benefit most from this work. This workshop is the first of four leading to certification in Dr. Vodder's Manual Lymph Drainage/Combined Decongestive Therapy (MLD®). It is an intensive workshop involving extensive hands on work. Students learn the basic strokes and their application to each body part. The theory includes anatomy and physiology of the lymph vessel system as well as effects of MLD. Reiki is a safe, relaxing, and effective way to rebalance our bodies and help clear the way for us to be our best selves and achieve our highest purpose!
In this transformational workshop, you will receive two Reiki attunements to activate and strengthen the flow of Reiki energy within you. You’ll also learn all the essentials for performing Reiki treatments on yourself and others, including the three original sacred symbols used in Reiki healing. Each student can expect a comprehensive and joyful exploration of this beautiful energy, with plenty of time for questions and practice.
