Edgar Cayce Scholarship Program

Edgar CaycePurpose:

To promote the education of graduating high school seniors in the City of Virginia Beach School System that are interested in/or studying fields associated with varied aspects of holistic living. To give financial assistance to students who will be majoring in a course curriculum related to holistic health, philosophy, social work, personal spirituality, and/or optimizing the quality of life through mind-body-spirit integration.

Criteria:

Individual applicants must be graduating seniors who have been accepted to a college undergraduate level curriculum. Applicants will document their class ranking and have a 3.0 or greater Grade Point Average or appropriate equivalent of individual scholastic achievement. Applicants must demonstrate an active interest in holistic living; a desire to enrich and deepen relationships to self, to family and community members, to the global community, and to the planet.

Applicants are required to submit, along with the application, an essay (typed or printed neatly) between 3500 and 4000 words. The essay can explore any of the five (5) major topics examined in the Edgar Cayce Work: Holistic Health, Intuition, Ancient Mysteries, Ecumenical Spirituality/Philosophy, and Dreams. Those papers taking a comparative approach to the subject matter will take precedence. Use of the Cayce material is encouraged but not required. Applicants are invited to use the A.R.E. library facilities for researching information on their topic.

The applicant's most recent official high school transcript and a copy of the acceptance letter from the college that the applicant will attend (listing the major), must accompany the application. A photocopy of a school transcript will not be accepted. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Scholarship Amount:

Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded per year.
