Uterine Fibroids

Here are five Cayce readings that discuss the causes and treatment of uterine fibroids.

              Time of Reading
              Set bet. 3:30 to 4:30 A. M. Eastern War Time.    ..., Alaska.

           1. GC:  You will go over this body carefully, examine it
thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the
present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions,
also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering
the questions, as I ask them:

           2. EC:  Yes, while we find conditions not so good, there is,
as we find, a combination of disturbances and all have to
do with the organs of pelvis.

           3. There is a fibroid tumor on the Fallopian tube and there is
that possibility here in the present of conception.  These,
together, will work one against the other, and yet there
would be such defects if this is allowed to continue.

           4. We would find that the better conditions would result if
there would be the use of the radio-short-wave electrical
              forces with osteopathic adjustments.

           5. Do use at times the Glyco-Thymoline douches.  These should
be used at least once each week.  This will prevent infection
and this should so dissipate the conditions as to cause much
              better conditions for the body.

           6. The conditions about the body also are aggravating at times,
but if there will be kept that general mental attitude of
being in accord with the divine forces as may manifest we
will bring the better conditions in every way for the body.

           7. Don't become naggy; don't become too overbearing; not be
necessarily too submissive, but keep in the attitude of being
good and good for something with it.

           8. Do that.  There will be the better conditions for this body.

           9. Ready for questions.

          10. (Q)  How often should the short-wave treatments be given
              and where?
              (A)  Once a week, across the lumbar and sacral areas.

          11. (Q)  How often should the osteopathic treatments be given?
              (A)  At least twice a week.

          12. (Q)  Any suggestions as to the corrections to be made?
              (A)  Those to set up drainages for the correction from the
1st of the lumbar axis and throughout the coccyx area to the
              1st cervicals.

          13. (Q)  Will this get rid of the tumor?
              (A)  As has been indicated, it should correct conditions.

          14. (Q)  Any mental or spiritual advice?
              (A)  As has been indicated.

          15. We are through with this reading.

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at the office of
the Association, Arctic Crescent, Va. Beach, Va., this 20th
day of January, 1944, in accordance with request made by the

              Time of Reading
11:00 to 11:15 A. M. Eastern War Time.         Warren, Ohio.

           1. GC:  You will go over this body carefully, examine it
thoroughly, and tell me the conditions you find at the
present time; giving the cause of the existing conditions,
also suggestions for help and relief of this body; answering
the questions, as I ask them:

           2. EC:  Yes, we have the body here.

           3. Now, while there are disturbances throughout the body and
these are rather of the complex nature, we find that already
there has been too much of those administrations that have
not reached the sources or causes of disturbances - and these
continue to prove to be disturbing influences in the body.

           4. First there needs to be much changed in the general physical
and mental attitude of the body.  So long as the body holds
to the attitude that the world and everything in it is
against the activities of the body and the thought of its
better welfare, so long as the body is continuing to feel
sorry for itself, it will continue to have greater and
greater disturbances through the physical forces of the body.

           5. It is true that there is much disturbing the body physically
              - as the conditions through the circulation, the rashes that
disturb at times, but a great deal of it is in the mental
attitude.  There are areas through the lower portion of
the rectum that cause disturbance, to say nothing of the
activities through the lungs, the liver and the kidneys.

           6. At least twice a week, until about fifteen treatments
are given, we would have a general relaxing treatment
osteopathically.  These should not be stimulating treatments
but relaxing treatments; slow, easy, gentle - setting
up drainages especially in the areas of the 6th and 7th
dorsal and throughout the lumbar and sacral axis.

           7. After each treatment rest for at least thirty minutes before
attempting to leave or to move about a great deal.  During
that period have applied for a minute to a minute and a half
the ultra-violet ray light, (the Mercury Light) with the
green glass projected between the light and the body, not
more than a minute and a half.  Apparently the projection of
the green glass deflects the very rays intended to be used
by the ultra-violet.  True, it does take some rays from the
light; yet the penetrating rays that are carried through are
deflected or broken sufficiently that the green presents more
of a healing power to the conditions where there are those
tendencies for inflammation in the mucous membranes or soft
tissue, where there is the greater flow of lymph circulation
throughout the body - soft tissue of face, lungs, organs of
the digestive system, the abdominal area, through the whole
alimentary canal.  All will be aided and there will be
less tendency for the accumulations that may, if there
are irritations, become malignant in their nature.

           8. After at least fifteen to sixteen such osteopathic
treatments, followed each time by the Light treatment
(during the rest period) then we would leave off all of these
treatments for a period of three to four weeks.  Then have
              about twelve more.

           9. Do these and we will bring better conditions for this body.

          10. Ready for questions.

          11. (Q)  What can I do for condition in shoulders, arms and
fingers of right hand?  Some say I will be a cripple from
              this.
              (A)  What we have given applies to all of these.  As
drainages are set up we will find that gradually these
conditions will be removed - not in a hurry, for these
              have been long in building.

But do change the general attitude.  Think constructively.
Help others to find themselves.  In so doing you will find
yourself.  Make your life helpful to others even in these
disturbing periods of anxiety regarding others as well as
self.  Think of others who are in much worse condition than
yourself and it will enable you to forget self and help
              others the more.

              Do that.

          12. (Q)  Are the tablets being taken helpful?  Caroid and Bile
              Salts with Phenophthalein.
              (A)  These are of such natures that you will come to depend
upon them.  Hence if the treatments suggested are taken,
              gradually leave off the tablets.

          13. (Q)  What is the condition of the rectum?
              (A)  As indicated there are those tendencies for irritation.

Should there continue to be, after these suggested treatments
are applied, then - after at least six or eight of the
osteopathic relaxing treatments have been given - we would
use this combination of oils as an injection.  But do not use
these unless the rectal area conditions continue to become
irritated at periods of evacuations.  Add two drops of
carbolic acid to one ounce of glycerine, stirring very
thoroughly.  Then add to this two ounces of Usoline or Nujol.
Stir, beat or mix thoroughly.  This quantity should be
sufficient for at least three injections.  Use a baby or
an ear syringe to inject into the rectal area - only if the
irritation continues, as the body changes its attitude and
applies itself and has at least six to eight of the relaxing
              treatments osteopathically.

          14. (Q)  Will the fibroid tumor on uterus give me any trouble?
              (A)  It will give trouble unless, as indicated, measures are
taken to set up better drainages in the system so that this
              may be absorbed.

          15. (Q)  Will surgery be advisable for the liver?
              (A)  Not if the applications suggested are made and as the
attitude is changed.  If the body continues to hold on and to
enjoy being worked on by the doctors, cut on by same, pulled
and hauled about by others, well - you might as well keep on
doing it!  But we have indicated how to meet the condition -
first within self, quit feeling sorry for self!  Do something
about it that will be constructive, by doing something
for others as well as by being more quiet - in the means
and manner of using administrations that will eliminate
              sources of the disturbance.

              Do that.

              Time of Reading                                     ... Ave.,
              10:55 to 11:00 A. M.                                ..., Va.

           1. GC:  You will give the physical condition of this body at
the present time, with suggestions for further corrective
measures; answering the questions she has submitted, as I
              ask them:

           2. EC:  Yes.

           3. There are many changes, as we find, in the general physical
forces of this body.  Some are much for the improvements.
Others, where there have been anxieties and disturbances,
              are making for great disturbance.

           4. As we find, it would be well to carry on with those
suggestions for the removal of the disturbance.  This should
not necessarily cause any great disturbance for the body,
if there are the proper precautions taken as to preventing
infectious forces, and the removal entirely of the growth
              itself without involving other tissue.

           5. This as we find, under the present directions would be very
              well.

           6. Ready for questions.

           7. (Q)  Is Dr. Lowenberg the right doctor?
              (A)  As just indicated, he is very well.

           8. (Q)  Please describe specific condition in uterus, rectum
              and ovaries.
              (A)  These questions are superficial, if there are to be the
operative forces, - and would only give a confusion as to the
              disturbances.

           9. (Q)  What is condition of kidneys and heart?
              (A)  These are able to stand the strain, if there are the
proper precaution taken.  As to what they may be afterward
will depend, of course, upon the diet and the care taken
through those periods, with the character of forces necessary
to be given for the carrying on.  These had better come
              AFTER, than now.

          10. (Q)  What is condition of heart?
              (A)  As just indicated, these are better to be determined
              after than in the present.

As given, the more of the trouble with most of these is in
the imagination, yet they are producing - with the
disturbances themselves - that as makes it necessary for the
              activities.

              Do it or don't.

              TEXT OF READING 428-12 F 53

This psychic reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home
on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 20th day
of February, 1937, in accordance with request made by the
self - Mrs. [428], Active Member of the Ass'n for Research

              Time of Reading
              11:05 to 11:20 A. M. Eastern Standard Time.         ..., N.Y.

              (Physical Suggestion)

           1. EC:  Yes, we have the body, [428]; this we have had before.

           2. As we find, there are some changes for the better since last
              we had same.

           3. There is the need, with the general application of mechano-
therapy or osteopathy, for the keeping of the drainages in
the system; the necessity for the better attitude of the body
              physically and mentally.

           4. This has been indicated from the suggestions of the positive
meditations as might have been had from Birdi.  [Fredoon C.
              Birdi, N.D.]

           5. In making the applications osteopathically, these as we find
are not so much for physical adjustments - except at times -
but for the quieting of the body and in keeping especially
the drainages in the activity of the organs of the digestion
              and the pelvic system.

           6. Hence while coordinating those in the upper portion of the
dorsal and cervical, those pressures and manipulations
coordinant or coordinating the coccyx center (or the ileum
center) and the 4th lumbar with the 2nd, 3rd and 4th dorsal
will relieve these tendencies for the feelings of fullness
and gas in the system; by the holding of the centers or
              plexus area, one in the ileum, the other in the 2nd dorsal;
the 4th lumbar, the 4th dorsal.  One held to the right, the
other to the left, for a few moments, will be found to be
              most beneficial.

           7. We would find that a little more of the food values, as has
been indicated, would be the better.  We would find the
addition of Beef Juice to the diet already being taken would
be well.  We would add a teaspoonful of the Beef Juice two,
three, four times a day; not broth nor the fat in same.  But
when this is taken, sip it.  Do not gulp or take spoonsful
              of it.  Sip a teaspoonful two, three, four times a day;
taking that much at three to four sips.  Let it act with the
gastric flows of the salivary glands, the upper portions of
the throat, the esophagus, and the upper portion of the
stomach.  Taken in this manner the assimilation and the
strength as received from same will be most beneficial.

           8. We would find the use of the vaginal applicator with the
violet ray once a week helpful in preventing growth and in
keeping the organs of the pelvis better in coordination with
the rest of the system.  We would not use it oftener than
once a week, nor longer than a minute or minute and a half
              at each application.

           9. Ready for questions.

          10. (Q)  Is the fibroid tumor in the uterus causing any pressure
              on any vital part?
              (A)  This naturally produces a part of the irritation, and
the mental attitude or the awareness of same becomes a
portion more of the mental disturbance than physical.  Hence
as has been indicated, the coordinating of centers by equal
pressure in those areas indicated; and the use of the violet
ray applicator.  These will keep down tendencies for
              pressure, tendencies for growth.

          11. (Q)  May it be influenced through inhalations?
              (A)  This is influenced to be sure, but the influence is more
to the respiratory system and the circulation by the
inhalations.  And these are very well to be used as has
              formerly been given.

          12. (Q)  Is exercise indicated; if so, what form?
              (A)  Not too great an amount but sufficient for the body to
keep an activity away from (that is, mentally so) its own
              incapacity.

          13. (Q)  Is the feeling of gas pressure in the abdomen really
gas; if not, what causes this feeling?
              (A)  This is partially gas, at times; at other times it is
the natural nervous reaction from the feeling of filling up,
              see?

          14. (Q)  Is the American Saffron alright?
              (A)  The American Saffron will be found to be most helpful.
This is really preferable to the Spanish Saffron, which is
              much more expensive.

          15. (Q)  Am I eating correctly?  If not, what should be my diet?
              (A)  As has been indicated, we would add Beef Juices; sips of
same, three to four times a day.

          16. (Q)  Any spiritual advice?
              (A)  Keep the mental attitudes constructive.  Let the
meditations be that the body may be used for constructive
forces in all its environs.  Hold not animosities, grudges
nor any feelings of anxiety towards others.  Lose self in the
              thought of helpfulness to others.

          17. We are through for the present.

              TEXT OF READING 313-22 F 54 (?)

This Psychic Reading given by Edgar Cayce at his home
on Arctic Crescent, Virginia Beach, Va., this 6th day
of May, 1940, in accordance with request made by the
husband - Mr. [228], Associate Member of the Ass'n for
              Research & Enlightenment, Inc.

              Time of Reading                                 ... Street,
              10:55 to 11:05 A. M. Eastern Standard Time.     ..., Alabama.

           1. GC:  You will give the physical condition of this body at
the present time, with suggestions for further corrective
measures; answering the questions, as I ask them:

           2. EC:  Yes.

           3. Now as we find, general conditions about the body rather
show a great deal of anxiety, and the inclination or tendency
towards resignation towards conditions that have at times
              proven to be very disturbing.

           4. We find that the use of the Sulfanilamide has been and is
a helpful experience for the body, but it has tended to make
for segregations in the system - as to cause conditions that
have existed in the pelvis, as related to the womb and the
organs as related to same, to bring the increasing in those
              disturbances there.

           5. Hence we find that a more healthy condition would be brought
by the use of operative measures for the body.  This would
require, of course, that there be precautions as to the
preparation of the body, by the building up of blood plasm.
This should be accomplished in two, three, four to five days,
              - if the attitudes of the body are in that way not so much
of complete resignation to conditions but with a desire and
a purposefulness for its physical and living activity in the
              present.

           6. The right ovary will need attention, of course, when there
is the removal of the growth; and this need not necessarily
be just an experimentation nor other than extreme measures
for healthful forces in the body.

           7. We would give, then, that the preparation be made for the
operative measures, - by the general precautions and the
              building up of resistances.

           8. Also we would give that the general attitude of the body
be such as to know that this is something which now is
necessary, and will relieve and bring bettered conditions
              for the body.

           9. Ready for questions.

          10. (Q)  Is there a fibroid tumor on the womb?
              (A)  As just indicated, this is the result of a segregation
in the system and is necessary that such be removed.  It is
not of a nature that is malignant.

          11. (Q)  Is there a tumor on left ovary and tube?
              (A)  We find there's more trouble with the right than with
the left.  This will be found by exploration, though, as the
other conditions are taken care of.

              More precautions to the right.

          12. (Q)  When would you advise operation?
              (A)  As just indicated, - when preparations are made and it
is found that there the proper coagulative forces and the
ability for resistances, and the constructive attitudes of
              the body itself.

          13. (Q)  Are exercises helpful?
              (A)  Not in the present conditions should there be too great
an amount of exercise; though some is necessary, of course,
even in the preparations.  But precautions should be taken
that there be not too much of exercises other than of the
specific nature to prevent the formation of scar tissue as
would become disturbing later in the physical activities of
              the body.

Do this as we find, for bringing the better conditions for
              this body of [313].
