The Sunshine Vitamin
A group of U.S. nutrition experts convened
by MedPanel (a medical market intelligence company) have concluded that
between 30-50 percent of the U.S. population is deficient in vitamin D.
Problems with growth, bone and cognitive development in children, and bone
fractures and pain in elderly adults (i.e., osteoporosis) can all be credited
to vitamin D deficiency. The experts stated that the high deficiency
rate may be the result of less exposure to the sun (especially due to concerns
about skin cancer) and low-carbohydrate diets that focus on reduced milk
and grain consumption. This article discusses how you can safely
insure that you are getting enough of this important vitamin. |
Mysterious Ginseng
Ginseng is a mysterious herb that has a long
history of use in China where it has been used for centuries as a cure-all
with properties reputed to increase longevity and vitality. Edgar
Cayce also recommended ginseng in many of his psychic readings in which
he stated that ginseng is "the basis of the stimulation of life in its
very essence in the body of man." Cayce insisted upon "wild" ginseng,
which is becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. Furthermore,
ginseng supplements may not contain the primary active ingredients of the
wild plant. This article provides some suggestions for obtaining
and using ginseng wisely.
