Biofeedback Success
Biofeedback has made the transition from a
1970s fad to a widely accepted medical procedure. Proven clinical
efficacy in numerous medical conditions has established this mind-body
therapy as one of the solid success stories in alternative medicine.
Biofeedback is based on the innate ability that each person can utilize
to consciously change and control the body’s vital functions that are usually
unconscious. In a sense, biofeedback is the Western technological
version of Eastern yogic practices wherein years of intense meditation
and application allow the adept to consciously control normally involuntary
physiological processes such as digestion, heart rate, blood pressure,
blood flow, brain waves, and muscle activity. |
Soy Choices
The humble soybean, a staple of Asian cuisine
for centuries, has made significant inroads among health-conscious consumers
in the West. Soy food products also form the nutritional foundation
for many vegetarians who have ethical qualms about eating flesh or who
simply wish to spiritualize the body.
Soy is a nutrient-rich food that contains all of the essential amino
acids required by our bodies, making it a complete protein. Soy foods
are high in fiber with no cholesterol. In addition to the many vitamins
and minerals, soy foods also contain phytochemical compounds (such as isoflavones)
that have been linked to numerous health benefits. This article discusses
the Edgar Cayce readings on soy and contains some suggestions for sensible
soy choices. |
