Music Therapy
(Finding Your Note)

Edgar Cayce was a strong advocate for music as a therapy and for personal development.  In numerous readings readings, Cayce even identified the note or vibratory tone to which specific individuals would resonate.  In music therapy terms, this is called "entrainment."

The question is how does one recognize the sound that is optimal for each person.  Here is some advice that Edgar Cayce gave that addresses this question.

Do get the note vibrations in music to which the body will respond and continue to interest the body in same whenever treatments are given.  And have plenty of such things about the body to use itself.  It will aid in keeping the body, mind and soul purposefully in harmonious directions….
(Q)  What type of musical instrument would you suggest?
(A)  You may have to go through the whole category, but get the vibration!  They are all on the piano, of course.   (3401-1)

(Q)  How may I use music and higher vibrations in electrical energies for healing, as suggested through this channel?
(A)  Every individual entity is on certain vibrations.  Every dis-ease or disease is creating in the body the opposite or non-coordinant vibration with the conditions in a body-mind and spirit of the individual.  If there is used certain vibrations there may be seen the response.  In some it is necessary for counteraction, in some it is necessary for changes.
Then, the better way is to first develop in thine own consciousness, with the various individuals, or thine own pupils, or thy associates or thy companion, that vibration which is in rhythm with the vibration of that body.
To be sure, moods often apparently change this vibration; yet by study, by practise and by application, the vibration of the body may be ascertained.
Thus there are the needs for the aiding in using such for healing, or the dissipating, - that is, the dissipating of
suppressions.  And that's what we need for your owncompanion [2072], and it's a very good one to practice on!
(Q)  What means of application can be used?
(A)  As just indicated, the finding of that to which the body-mind responds; not just what it likes, or dislikes, but that which strikes a vibrant chord within the consciousness of the individual, see? (1861-12)

Do this.  And with the care as to the speech, - as well as the MUSIC that is of interest to the body, and may be made more so by using certain tones, - we will bring the normal forces for this body, [2527]….

(Q)  Just what kind of music, and in what manner may it be used?
(A)  Especially those tones or chords that will be found to be pleasing, and will find response in the emotions of the body.  This should be a part of its training, - as in speech, and the sounds - with the vocal noises, or meeting same in their chords, see?   (2527-1)
