Understanding the UFO Phenomenona - THE FULL SPECTRUM
By Gregory L. Little, Ed.D.

One of the most unusual conferences ever held at Virginia Beach is being hosted by the A.R.E., December 2-3, 2005. It is the result of increased public and media interest in the UFO phenomenon, as well as revived interest in those Edgar Cayce readings that specifically mentioned ancient visitations to Earth by extraterrestrials. The conference includes several of the most influential figures in the study of UFOs (ufology) as well as Cayce-oriented speakers who have carefully evaluated Cayce’s readings on the ancient world.

The most definitive Cayce reading on ancient visits to Earth by extraterrestrial beings was given in 1938 (1616-1): “Before this we find the entity was in the land now known as the Mexican and Yucatan land.…It was just before that period when those as from the east had come, and there were the beginnings of the unfoldments of the understanding that there were other portions of the same land, or those that were visiting from other worlds or planets.” The time frame and location of these visits by people “from other worlds or planets” is fairly narrow. It was in the Mayan (Yucatan) region, and it was after Christ’s appearance in Palestine.

Another 1938 Cayce reading appears to strongly suggest ancient extraterrestrial visitations, but this time it took place in the Atlantean land, around 10,000 B.C. Incredibly, the reading implies that the warning given to the Atlantean priests about the impending destruction of Atlantis could have come from extraterrestrial sources. Furthermore, the need to have the Atlantean records preserved in three locations also appears to have come from the same source: THERE IS A FASCINATING RANGE OF IDEAS AND THERE IS A FASCINATING RANGE OF IDEAS AND THEORIES ABOUT UFOS THAT INCORPORATE THEORIES ABOUT UFOS THAT INCORPORATE SPIRITUALITY, NATIVE AMERICAN LORE, EARTH SPIRITUALITY, NATIVE AMERICAN LORE, EARTH ENERGIES, ANGELS, AND NEUROCHEMISTRY. ENERGIES, ANGELS, AND NEUROCHEMISTRY.

“Before that we find the entity was in the Atlantean land.

“There we find the entity was very close to those in authority; being that one who was the keeper of the portals as well as the messages that were received from the visitation of those from the outer spheres, in the latter part of the entity’s experience there.

“For it was the entity that received the message as to the needs for the dividing of the children of the Law of One for the preservation of the truths of same in other lands.

“Hence we find the entity was among those who were as the directors of those expeditions, or the leaving for the many varied lands just before the breaking up of the Atlantean land.

“Hence the entity outlined in the most part, it might be said, the expedition guided by Ax-Tell and the ones to the Pyrenees and to the Yucatan and to the land of Og.”(1681-1)

Edgar Cayce also often related that there were elemental beings, which consisted of vibrations (similar to electrical energies).Under some conditions, these vibrational forces could manifest into physical forms. During his youth, Cayce played with these physical beings, which he called fairies (294-128). In other readings (1298-1), he called elementals “the warp [vibrational ]and woof [texture ]of materiality.” Cayce mentioned brownies, pixies, fairies, and gnomes as examples of these materialized forms. These readings have strong similarities to many modern UFO abduction reports, and will be a topic addressed during the conference.

Ufology— A Spectrum of Theories

The field of ufology emerged not long after the modern wave of UFO reports appeared in 1947, two years after Cayce ’s death. So many UFO reports were made in America, that the government was forced to address the issue, especially since many reports came from military sources. From 1947 through 1952, the U.S. Air Force investigated 2,344 UFO cases and classified about 17 percent as unidentified. In 1991, the Air Force issued regulation 190-1, which reported that over 12,500 cases had been officially investigated and that about 5 percent were unexplained. In general, UFO investigators focus on the unexplained cases, which continue to pour in unabated to this day. Quite recently, the Brazilian government has officially released previously unknown documents, which validate both the government ’s involvement in UFO investigations and the finding that investigators have concluded that many of the cases are genuine and inexplicable in conventional terms. Some prominent UFO investigators assert that a government conspiracy has been at the center of an ongoing coverup, which seeks to hide the fact that the military has recovered the remains of crashed alien craft as well as the aliens inside these craft. While many investigators have become certain that the unexplained UFO reports represent alien craft, others have come to very different conclusions. One interesting background to the modern UFO era is increasing understanding that similar reports have been made throughout all recorded history. This has led to a fascinating range of ideas and theories about UFOs that incorporate spiritual ity, Native American lore, Earth energies, angels, and neurochemistry. The December 2005 conference will cover the entire spectrum of all these theories with many of the foremost investigators and theorists.

UFOs: The Full Spectrum

Speakers and Topics

Jacques Vallee,Ph.D.– Vallee is widely considered to be one of the most influential researchers and theorists in the entire field of ufology. He makes very few public appearances on the UFO scene. Vallee worked with Dr. J.Allen Hynek in the beginning of America’s UFO craze. His major ideas have been summed up in several books and he has stated, “I will be disappointed if UFOs turn out to be nothing more than spaceships.” In his recent book, Forbidden Science, Vallee states: “The UFO Phenomenon exists. It has been with us throughout history. It is physical in nature and it remains unexplained in terms of contemporary science. It represents a level of consciousness that we have not yet recognized, and which is able to manipulate dimensions beyond time and space as we understand them.” Vallee asserts that UFOs come through interdimensional “windows” and are manipulated by intelligent, often mischievous, but always-enigmatic beings we have yet to understand. In the 1977 Spielberg film Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Jacques Vallee was the inspiration for the French character “Lacombe,” who was not only in charge of the contact made with the visitors, but was the most reasoned and insightful person depicted in the film.

Stanton T.Friedman,M.Sc.–Fried- man, a nuclear physicist, is probably the most recognizable UFO researcher in the entire world.Since 1967 he has lectured on the topic “Flying Saucers Are Real ”at more than 600 colleges and over 100 professional groups in all 50 states and 14 other countries. He has published more than 80 UFO papers and appeared on hundreds of radio and TV documentaries. He is the original civilian investigator of the Roswell Incident and coauthored Crash at Corona: The Definitive Study of the Roswell Incident. His book, TOP SECRET/ MAJIC, which concerns the Majestic 12 group established in 1947 to deal with crashed saucers, was published in 1996.Friedman takes a clear-cut unambiguous stand that some UFOs are alien spacecraft and that alien wreckage and bodies were recovered in New Mexico in 1947.

Brad Steiger &Sherry Steiger – Brad Steiger is the author/coauthor of 154 books with over 17 million copies in print. He is one of the most prolific investigators of UFO reports (22 books) and psychic phenomena, beginning with his research on UFOs in the 1960s. Along with wife Sherry Steiger, they have focused their recent efforts on near-death reports, psychical reports from animals, and Native American connections to UFO phenomena. They have appeared on a host of documentaries and are two of the most prominent personalities in the field. Brad states that UFO entities,“…have always co- existed with us …”and that they play a role in a transformation of consciousness in our present time. Sherry sees a link between modern UFO reports and biblical events and asserts that there is a common thread in all paranormal events.

Betty Andreasson Luca –Betty is perhaps the most famous “UFO abductee”of all time, and her conclusions about UFOs and abductions mirror information from Cayce’s readings. She was the subject of five best-selling books by the distinguished researcher Raymond E.Fowler. The “UFO situation” for her and her husband Bob is still ongoing and she believes that the phenomenon represents a spiritual manifestation that relates to Christianity. She stated, “I don’t think the UFO phenomenon can be adequately addressed alone as physical, hard ‘nuts and bolts’science. When God made heaven and Earth it was first spiritually made. It was only after the spiritual image was created that a physical form followed which was filled with substance to complete the work. When we see the ‘nuts and bolts,’ we are looking at [forms ]of Spirit.” Betty asserts that in order to understand the UFO phenomenon, spirituality must be present.

Brent Raynes – Brent has been one of ufology’s longest-running researchers, beginning in 1967 while he was in the U.S.Navy. He has met or interviewed nearly every major figure in American ufology including John Keel, Betty Hill, Brad Steiger, Uri Geller, and a host of others. He is considered to be one of the most knowledgeable, careful, compassionate, and gentle UFO researchers in the U.S. Since his earliest involvement in the field, he has editedand published UFO newsletters and magazines, with the most recent being Alternate Perceptions (now in its 91st is- sue). His recent book, Visitors from Hidden Realms (2004), reviews myths and legends of ancient visitors who came from the stars. Brent has found that numerous Native American and South American legends detail reports similar to modern UFO reports. He has collected and analyzed hundreds of little- known UFO cases, and believes that a form of spiritual manifestation is present in the UFO phenomenon but is open to the idea that some reports may represent alien craft.

SO MANY UFO REPORTS SO MANY UFO REPORTS WERE MADE IN AMERICA, WERE MADE IN AMERICA, THAT THE GOVERNMENT THAT THE GOVERNMENT WAS FORCED TO ADDRESS WAS FORCED TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE, ESPECIALLY THE ISSUE, ESPECIALLY SINCE MANY REPORTS SINCE MANY REPORTS CAME FROM MILITARY CAME FROM MILITARY SOURCES. SOURCES.Gregory L.Little,Ed.D.–Greg ’s first book, The Archetype Experience (1984) was a followup to Carl Jung’s classic Flying Saucers: A Modern Myth of Things Seen in the Skies. In that book, Greg asserted that Jung’s concept of archetypes was partly misunderstood, as was what Jung wrote about the UFO phenomenon. Jung related that under certain conditions, archetypes, a primal form of energy, could become visible and physical as they move their wavelengths into the visible light spec- trum. That idea, Greg found, was identical to John Keel’s ideas, expressed in The Mothman Prophecies, that intelligent energy forms exist on both invisible ends of the electromagnetic spectrum. Greg followed up The Archetype Experience with People of the Web (1990) and Grand Illusions (1994), both of which linked ancient rituals at sacred sites to UFO manifestations. Greg believes that videotaped manifestations, such as those at Zeitoun, Egypt, are the best scientific evidence that the spiritual world occasionally manifests into the physical world and that Earth forces are the primal source of energy for UFO manifestations. He also believes that brain research has shown how these electromagnetic intelligences can communicate and interact with humans. As he has continued his work into the ancient world, he has concluded that actual visits to Earth by extraterrestrials may have occurred in the remote past.
