Global Unrest and Solar Flares
By Alison Ray

The headlines from the news recently have been filled with unrest. For the past month, protests and revolts have spread across the globe. Countries such as Egypt, Libya, Yemen, Bahrain, Iran, Tunisia, Oman, Iraq, Mauritania, Jordan, Algeria, Djibouti, Kuwait, Sudan, Syria, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, India, China, and even the state of Wisconsin in the United States.

Solar Flare -wikipediaIn the midst of it, I’m not sure how many people noticed the headline about the biggest solar flare in years erupting. According to NASA, the sun emitted its first X-class flare in more than four years on February 14 at 8:56 pm (EST). A solar flare is an explosion on the Sun that happens when energy stored in twisted magnetic fields is suddenly released. Flares produce a burst of radiation across the electromagnetic spectrum, from radio waves to x-rays and gamma-rays. If large enough, they could trigger a global blackout and long-lasting radiation storms on Earth. These were preceded and followed by several M-class flares which have been known to cause brief radio blackouts.

Most flares occur in active regions around sunspots. The current scientific perspective is that solar flares are caused by a phenomenon called magnetic reconnection, which occurs when the magnetic lines of force are rearranged, as two oppositely directed magnetic fields are brought together on the Sun.

According to Edgar Cayce, activity like sunspots and solar flares are actually a response to the conditions on the earth. In a reading given for A.R.E.’s Ninth Annual Congress in June of 1940, Mr. Cayce was asked about the cause of sunspots and their effect on the earth.

“The more ye become aware of thy relationships to the universe and those influences that control same, the greater thy ability to help...even as to the sun which reflects those turmoils that arise with thee; even as the earthquake, even as wars and hates, even as the influences in thy life day by day.
Then, what are the sun spots? A natural consequence of that turmoil which the sons of God in the earth reflect upon same.” Edgar Cayce Reading 5757-1

Rather than simply being affected by activity in the heavens, consider what it would mean if we, as individuals and collectively, actually are the cause. If we all bring our thoughts and prayers to love and peace, imagine the impact upon our world.

“Change thy attitude to this: Know that what is in the heavens, even, did not produce a single characteristic in an individual soul; but that the individual soul, as a part of God…wrought the changes that are signified in the activities at the time of materialization into a three-dimensional consciousness. For, faults and failures, sin and sorrow, are the outgrowth of disobedience to the divine law, and influence the heavens in the experiences of individual souls!” Edgar CayceReading 2408-1
