AFFIRMATION FOR MAY
Let virtue and understanding be in me, for my defense is in Thee, O Lord, my Redeemer; for Thou hearest the prayer of the upright in heart.
-- Edgar Cayce reading 262-17
This is my update for May 2020 to A.R.E. members and friends who are interested in the new and exciting trends occurring within Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E., Atlantic University, the Cayce/Reilly School of Massage, and the Edgar Cayce Foundation. A number of exciting things are happening! Please share the following with your friends:
A.R.E.’s public areas are still closed. The Coronavirus hit A.R.E. operations hard and has caused the cancellation or postponement of all face-to-face conferences. We have, however, created a new series of LIVE STREAM and ON DEMAND events. See Conferences information below.
As I said last month, A.R.E. Members, the Board of Trustees, former Board members and the staff have all helped to stabilize the organization during this time of great challenge. And we are extremely grateful to you. Over the past two months, in fact, nearly 3,000 of you have donated almost $900,000 to our Crisis Relief Fund! Thank you very much! You have really made all the difference. In addition to providing us with much-needed finances, your contributions have also encouraged all of us in ways you can't imagine. Thank you again. If you haven’t yet had the chance to make your donation to help the organization, you can do it now by visiting: DONATE.
Although we have not yet finalized a date for a partial reopening, we are working on putting in place safety measures to protect our staff, therapists, members and students. We will keep you updated as plans change.
CONGRESS, CONFERENCES – UPCOMING LIVE STREAM / ON DEMAND EVENTS!
Our daily lives and our world have been dramatically changed in the face of the COVID-19 global pandemic, but one constant remains—the guidance, wisdom, hope, and comfort found within the Edgar Cayce readings. To adapt to these times, our 89th Annual A.R.E. Members Congress will now be a 100% online LIVE interactive event! In this new format we have new dates, June 23-26, and a new schedule available online shortly. Renewing the Cayce Legacy for Our Changing Times will feature favorite presenters like Sidney and Nancy Kirkpatrick, Mark Thurston PhD, and moderator Peter Woodbury MSW, plus fun activities and options including a chance for Q&A, a live “virtual talent show,” updates on A.R.E. activities and initiatives, a special exclusive Facebook group, and more.
Our popular annual “Contemporary Cayce” program, Call of the Soul July 17-19, will also be presented online, as will our June 20 one-day event Empower Your Healing with Dr. Eric Mein. Go to EdgarCayce.org/conferences for details and check for additional updates on these and future Headquarters and Field conferences, added daily as circumstances evolve. To view a full list of other online opportunities go to EdgarCayce.org/online.
CAYCE/REILLY® SCHOOL OF MASSAGE
The Cayce/Reilly School of Massage is open, with all classes shifted to a video conference/online classroom system. Applications for the June semester are already coming in. The June semester will begin on schedule using the video conference/online classroom system. As the use of massage grows, so do the reasons for people seeking massage therapy. More and more people are recognizing massage as an important element in overall health and wellness and an effective way to relieve stress, manage pain, and treat injuries. The Cayce/Reilly Massage blends three different techniques: Swedish, Osteopathic, and Neuropathic. The staff and faculty are dedicated to providing a holistic educational environment, preparing students for a rewarding career in the health care industry. Contact the school for more information about the June semester.
EDGAR CAYCE FOUNDATION LAUNCHES YOUTUBE CHANNEL
The Edgar Cayce Foundation has launched its own YouTube Channel, which you can subscribe to for updates. The channel also links to A.R.E.’s YouTube Channel and the E.C.F. website. The channel is hosted by archivist Jessica Newell. Jessica plans to post stories from the archives, as well as explain how you can use the collection. She will also give pointers on how to care for your own historical materials. The channel is available at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSvsLZoF2AwyTqNVc0RI6kg
It is with great sadness that due to ongoing concerns over the impact of COVID-19, and out of an abundance of caution to protect the health and safety of our campers, staff, and communities, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this summer’s programming at A.R.E. Camp until 2021. While we are confident that we are making the best decision to keep our community safe at this time, we’d much rather be splashing down by the creek with all of you in just a few short weeks! We are hoping to have some updates soon about ways we can all connect this summer and keep the spark of Camp magic glowing in each of our hearts until we can all gather again next summer. Stay tuned! Contact A.R.E. Camp Manager, Malenka Luckett, for questions or more information at 757-457-7162 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. For updates and news online visit EdgarCayce.org/camp
TRY AN ASFG GROUP VIA ZOOM
The advent of COVID-19 presented a new challenge that kept us from meeting in person but in true “cooperative” style, the A.R.E. Study Group Program grew wings and took to the skies! In order to continue meeting while following national and state health guidelines, many Groups began meeting online with Zoom and other platforms. If you’re new and have never experienced the small group process of discussing the readings, meditating together, and applying bite-sized principles each week, you’re in for a treat! Dial us up and experience it for yourself. Your spiritual family is waiting to meet you. To find a group near you go to https://www.edgarcayce.org/content/our-work/study-groups/find-a-studygroup/ or contact us and we’ll be happy to help you.
