New Free Monthly Lecture Series at the A.R.E.
Begins Wednesday, January 20

Virginia Beach, Va. – January is a month filled with resolutions aimed at creating a happier and healthier you. The A.R.E. Bookstore and Gift Shop has created a monthly lecture series aimed at providing important information to help you accomplish your New Year's resolutions while learning more about the body-mind-spirit connection. The new Conscious Community series will be held at the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) on the third Wednesday morning of every month at 10 a.m., and is free and open to the public. This lecture series will begin with "Our Conscious Consumption" featuring nutritionist Cara Blume on Wednesday, January 20, at 10 a.m. (registration starts at 9:30 a.m.).
Cara Blume, owner of the Perfect Bite and a former healthy eating specialist at Whole Foods Market in Virginia Beach, is on a mission to educate and empower our community to find their "center" with food. Cara has a B.S. in Human Nutrition and Foods from Virginia Tech and is passionate about healthy eating. Her goal is to educate the community about the tremendous benefits of a plant-strong diet. During the lecture, Cara will discuss how a plant-based diet can benefit one's health, how to find your center with food, quick tips on learning how to read a food label, and the importance of selecting nutrient-dense foods (and what that means).
Registration for this free lecture is not required but recommended in order to reserve a seat. Individuals may register online or by phone at 757-457-7258. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., and the program follows at 10 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to explore the A.R.E.'s free activities or to visit the Cayce/Miller Café (featuring food from Leaping Lizard Café) open from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The next lecture in the series will be held on Wednesday, February 17, and will focus on the Foundations for Success.
