New Free Monthly Lecture Series at the A.R.E.
Begins Wednesday, January 20

conscious community series
Virginia Beach, Va. – January is a month filled with resolutions aimed at creating a happier and healthier you. The A.R.E. Bookstore and Gift Shop has created a monthly lecture series aimed at providing important information to help you accomplish your New Year's resolutions while learning more about the body-mind-spirit connection. The new Conscious Community series will be held at the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) on the third Wednesday morning of every month at 10 a.m., and is free and open to the public. This lecture series will begin with "Our Conscious Consumption" featuring nutritionist Cara Blume on Wednesday, January 20, at 10 a.m. (registration starts at 9:30 a.m.).

Cara Blume, owner of the Perfect Bite and a former healthy eating specialist at Whole Foods Market in Virginia Beach, is on a mission to educate and empower our community to find their "center" with food. Cara has a B.S. in Human Nutrition and Foods from Virginia Tech and is passionate about healthy eating. Her goal is to educate the community about the tremendous benefits of a plant-strong diet. During the lecture, Cara will discuss how a plant-based diet can benefit one's health, how to find your center with food, quick tips on learning how to read a food label, and the importance of selecting nutrient-dense foods (and what that means).

Registration for this free lecture is not required but recommended in order to reserve a seat. Individuals may register online or by phone at 757-457-7258. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m., and the program follows at 10 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to explore the A.R.E.'s free activities or to visit the Cayce/Miller Café (featuring food from Leaping Lizard Café) open from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The next lecture in the series will be held on Wednesday, February 17, and will focus on the Foundations for Success.

campus hq buildingEdgar Cayce founded the non-profit Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) in 1931, to explore spirituality, holistic health, intuition, dream interpretation, psychic development, reincarnation, and ancient mysteries—all subjects that frequently came up in the more than 14,000 documented psychic readings given by Cayce, who died in 1945. The mission of A.R.E. is simply to help people around the world change their lives for the better through the ideas and information found in the Cayce readings. The Virginia Beach headquarters is a popular site for locals and tourists with free daily lectures, a Health Center & Spa, the Cayce/Reilly® School of Massage, an extensive metaphysical library, a meditation garden, a stone labyrinth, and a bookstore and gift shop. Visitors from around the world come to experience conferences featuring speakers on subjects like ancient mysteries, holistic health, and spiritual development. The campus is also home to Atlantic University (AU), which offers two masters degrees (Transpersonal Studies and Leadership Studies) through an online platform, as well as continuing education and certificate programs. Through A.R.E.’s many programs, services, publications, and membership outreach, individuals from all walks of life and religious backgrounds are provided with tools for personal transformation and healing at all levels—body, mind, and spirit.
