Have you been interested in meditating but don’t know how to begin? Do you wish you had a few simple steps to follow to get started? If so, this "Exploring Meditation Workshop" is for you.
Meditation is a wonderful tool for developing ease, balance, and a sense of peace within and with others. In this workshop you will learn how to meditate and how to maintain a nourishing, uncomplicated home practice. Included will be instructions on how to sit/recline comfortably and how to incorporate breath, intention, and visualization. You will receive helpful handouts and a lot of encouragement and support in a couple of different methods.
1. Mindfulness: Mindfulness of Breathing is a practice that helps us to develop a calm, clear, and focused mind. With mindfulness we develop concentration and awareness. A concentrated mind, flexible and alert, is poised for insight into the nature of mind and life itself.
2. A Sound Bath Healing Meditation: This technique will help you to learn how to use sound as an object of meditation. A "Sound Bath Meditation" is all about energy, frequency & vibration. It is a very therapeutic form of meditation because you’re literally being "bathed" in sound waves. As these sound wave energies wash over your body, they can move the brain from the beta and into an alpha & theta brainwave state.
Basically, this means that the sound vibrations help to shift your brain into a calmer state and allows you the opportunity to experience a deeper meditation which can lead you to profound relaxation & healing.
Sound meditations are wonderful for all types of meditators but are especially good for beginners because if you’ve ever attempted to meditate, you’ll know that the second you try not to think about stuff, is when your brain decides to think about everything!
However, in a Sound Meditation, the tones & frequencies give the mind something to hold onto. And so, the sounds of the singing bowls, instruments, etc... helps to cut through the mental chatter and quiet the mind down quite a bit.
Additionally, according to some traditions, these specific tones are the frequencies at which the bodies 7 major energy centers (chakras) should be resonating at. And therefore, these vibrations can help to bring the energetic body back into alignment and balance.
This workshop will include both instruction and practice, and plenty of time will be allotted for questions. Participants will leave feeling relaxed, confident, and ready to meditate. No experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable, warm clothing.

Anthony Profeta is a medical-student-turned-meditation/mindfulness-teacher. His knowledge of meditation and sound healing stems from 17+ years of intensive study and practice in monasteries & spiritual centers throughout the US, Nepal & India. He has studied with world renowned teachers Jack Kornfield & Sharon Salzberg.
In 2016, Anthony released GUIDED MEDITATIONS: Awaken to Happiness, Healing, & Peace with music composed by Sene Music Festival and Grammy recognized Kevin Keough. His newest creation, released in 2017, A Sound Healing Experience, features Crystal and Himalayan Singing bowls to create healing tonal frequencies designed to assist your mind transition between Beta-Alpha-Theta states.
Anthony offers private & group meditation lessons and sound baths, as well as, a variety of workshops in his home state of Florida.
