Easy Steps to YOUR Inner Information

If you have spent any time studying Edgar Cayce’s teachings, then you know that Cayce taught psychic abilities are the natural senses of our souls, while our 5 senses (tasting, touching, hearing, smelling, and seeing) are the natural senses of our bodies. Therefore, to get psychic insight it is simply a matter of getting more in touch with our souls! It’s easy, correct? Well, kind of, but let’s explore more of Cayce’s methods.

Soul Senses are Psychic Senses

What are the soul senses? They begin with the French word clair, meaning "clear," indicating an ability to gain information about an object, person, location, or physical event through extrasensory perception – or a "clearer" view:

  • Clairvoyance (clear seeing)
  • Clairsentience (clear feeling)
  • Clairalience (clear smelling)
  • Clairgustance (clear tasting)
  • Clairaudience (clear hearing)
  • Claircognizance (clear knowing)

Obviously, the last one is the most psychic sense for it is what we think of when we think about psychic abilities.

Let’s go through these “clearer” senses.

Clairvoyance (clear seeing) is when visions past, present, and future come into our mind’s eye and mental imagery. Comes from French voir "to see."

Clairsentience (clear feeling) is when feelings fill our being and body with sensations without any physical touch. These are often emotional feeling, as if the feelings are actually beyond us – from past, present, or even a precognitive future. This includes sensing a presence that is not visible. The term is synonymous with consciousness.

Clairalience (clear smelling) is smelling fragrances and odors that don't have any kind of physical source. Comes from an Old French word "to ally," as in alliance.

Clairgustance (clear tasting) is tasting something that isn't actually in our mouths. Coming from the root word gustō!

Clairaudience (clear hearing) is when words, sounds, voices, music come into our mental awareness. Comes from the Old French audire "to hear"

Claircognizance (clear knowing) is knowing something about people or events from out of nowhere. This is often termed intuitive knowing. Cayce often said the information that he received was "coming from out of nowhere or everywhere"! He explained that his mind was one with the "All Knowing" – called it God’s Mind or a Universal Consciousness.

Awakening Our Soul Senses

Cayce was very clear about how we awaken our natural soul senses. It’s easy! Well, in a way it is but we’ve let ourselves get too much into outer physical sensory receptors. Soul perception is inner awareness and is SUBTLE, delicate, and can be overwhelmed by outer, mental domination. We need to begin with "inner attentiveness." Remember the sayings, "think twice" and "count to ten"? These force us to pause the outer dominance and allow an inner input before acting or reacting.

Among the many techniques for developing our psychic ability Cayce gave his number one: Seek to build a oneness with the presence of the All Knowing, creator of our souls. He taught that Jesus Christ had built a path to our Father that we may use. When asked where Jesus was, he answered, "He is in the Oneness." Before Jesus left, he told us that he was preparing a way for us, and that where he is, we can be also – in the Oneness with the All Knowing. This was Cayce’s number one way to psychic ability. We don’t have to be Christian to do this. Even Jesus said that he had "flocks" beyond his original Jewish group and those beyond would also join the Oneness. This is because it was the Father, the Creator of all life that actually did the miracles and gave the teachings through Jesus the man. Cayce was asked, what would help the most in knowing what is best for experiencing life more abundantly. He answered: Prayer and meditation, to be sure. For as He has given, "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If you will open, I will enter in." He added that we should "spiritualize" our purposes for gaining extrasensory powers, warning that the manner in which we desire, they will come. Our desires need to be greater than self and selfishness.

Cayce added that music that raises within us the higher vibes will create and build a renewing of our inner self – where the extrasensory talents abide.

Cayce said that living our lives without psychic senses is like a ship without a rudder or pilot. Let the spirit or soul be the guiding force.

Cayce said that we could know how well we are developing by how creative and helpful our intuitive knowing is for us and those we share life with. If creative and helpful, then we are one with the Creative Forces of Light.

Psychic information will be the natural result of our growing oneness with the source of all life. The highest psychic skill is knowing that God speaks to us.
